  1. I did think a weeks trial with no pay a little rough! As for footy, I dont wanna talk it to anyone this season anyway!! everything else in your ad is spot on steve, basically if there is something to do, then do it without being told....frikin priceless! When I come to look for a full timer I'll be pinching a few bits outof here and mb's how to be a groundie
  2. Where should it be and how many characters should it be?.....Maybe I can have a stab in the dark
  3. Oh to be starting out again! did he work his first week for free? no racism.....and no talking football......ahem glad it worked out
  4. can anyone point me in the right direction to find the spec for this chipper? been searching online but there is very little info about it. just bought one second hand and would like to know where to find any relevant information i may need in the future. redwood have no mention of it on their site
  5. lots of people using the shortening ring on their strops, i find a carabina on the end makes the strop that bit longer when stretching and that bit shorter when on the harness much more comfortable, and easier to clip into my one way krab on my harness
  6. i did 3years of plane pollards and they always made me wretch if they were in leaf. this year we lifted some of the biggest trees in the city two or three days after the leaves came out (no masks and two of us were physically sick on site) 3 months later i had a tumor removed from my nasal cavity (benign but was touching go according to the docs) the nose is a good filterer so carcinogens will get stuck up there. Now i'm not saying it was due to planes, (docs also said it was a fair guess) i was a smoker but i wont be trying to test out any theories. wear a mask!
  7. I find that the paper type masks don't work too well and end up round your neck anyway. go for a twin filter four point respirator type mask, not comfortable but if you have to work on them seems to be the only ones that really do the job
  8. something i've always wondered about transplanting trees (and planting of youngens to a lesser extent) has been; is the aspect of the tree retained, ie is the south side of the tree replanted facing south and could this have any relationship to the success rate? Definitely one sweet truck!
  9. good vid, what happened to the first lift? looked like it was upsidown
  10. Hi Fi, hope your doing ok. That looked a bit fiddly, well done! martin
  11. There was certainly some firewood in that lump! love the flyby at 3:31
  12. think i may have worked on a mature oak last friday that has this. The bark on one side was very black, in patches, not isolated spots but large areas a very dark colour on the side of the tree which had the failure, all the way to the upper crown. The tear out also had bright purple spots dotted about. Didn't take many pics but got a couple, and a screen shot off my phone showing location. Sorry I haven't done much of the stuff in the brochure but hope it helps.
  13. the police ones rang me today, read this thread last week so knew straight away, nice one!
  14. my lightsaber broke....and previously over reduced trees everywhere!
  15. there are usually enough about but been known to run out of good rope retrieval sticks, this would be handy!
  16. Saw this last night, totally awsome! I'm not too sure about the guy running across the lake?!
  17. I've seen it on a holly in a park, nice little tree it was but we were felling it as it was dead, so i'm gonna say its reactionary growth to some sort of root nasty.
  18. tap roots hit a water main!
  19. Never a tree under pre tension, I could put 10 pull lines in and still have the right amount of tension!?
  20. I think if cutting like Reg does you'd definitely need a one to one radio of some sort with the driver.
  21. fair enough, chainsaw mesh then? and no arms across line of mesh outside of bucket? mewps all a bit alien to me i'm afraid
  22. any ideas why?
  23. or you'd have some very tired groundies
  24. but the wind might catch them, they could end up anywhere!!
  25. this is what i thought. was starting to wonder how i still have my tickets...
