  2. over 45,000,000 deaths from aids in africa, one more every 13 sec. over 64,000,000 hiv positive. most from southern africa (predominantly christian) so chances are they're with god now... strictly agnostic
  3. made a few cherry ones a few years back, they were great. no pics though saw a picture of some american guy who made a hickory one (possibly), might have been on another forum but it was massive and burnt for a couple of days apparently, anyone got a link as i cant find it anymore
  4. I dropped mine 90ft no case. it was in the woods and didn't hit any branches on the way down but still..... phones very good imo, love it! here's the pic i took prior to dropping it....
  5. Saw him a couple of times during the day and looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself! SAFE as just wondering of views from 'small' business ARB approved guys on what impact becoming has AAC had on business? I can't go for it for another 7 months but may do if it looks like a goer.
  6. Nope, lets not try and confuse those two please
  7. This impact can't be good: BBC News - Accumulating 'microplastic' threat to shores
  8. Indeed, I was more shocked at the difference between a million and a trillion tbh
  9. In December the U.K's pile of debt hit one trillion pounds! Now this sounds like a lot of money but it's very difficult to put this into perspective, so lets compare it to time, something we can all relate to: so, one million seconds = a little over 11.5 days one billion seconds = 31.7 years one trillion seconds = 31,688 years 269 days
  10. I think it just felt like they didn't like cutting, there was just something lacking in their performance. Also when doing a finishing cut they would sometimes skip a little before biting , leaving a slight scuff on the tree, not something I had encountered until using these chains.
  11. I shall order new bearings in the morning. Worth having just in case I guess! thanks
  12. Today I put a new chain on my 200t, it's apparently been designed for the 201t. After a quick moan to the local dealer that the stihl climbing saw chains they stock are rubbish, I've been going elsewhere and getting the oregon ones which for a while which are much better imo, but mine snapped on me and needs must.. Anyhow they gave me one of the new designs for the 201. I think it's basically a full chisel chain with the safety bumpers. At first when i saw it I thought they'll file off lovely and that will be one mean chain! but having used it today (given, it was only on lime repollards) I am very impressed, very smooth cutting, no skipping on the finish and the saw feels more powerful so after a bit more testing (next decent fell) I think I may go back to stihl for climbing chains!
  13. The squeaking stopped by itself. I had a job on sunday and didn't have the bottle to remove the rollers without any replacement bearings ready to go straight in, it did a bit of squeaking but has been fine all week Been greasing religiously since. no you may not bring any of your hammers near my chipper you can leave them in your new storage box.... LOL
  14. when I did cs30 I was told to fill the tank start it up and leave it on tickover til she runs dry, then go easy on it for the following tank or two. I like the sound of thrash it from the off though!!
  15. Haven't had that problem with the 528, the rollers sometimes don't grip for a time and just as you go to give the brash a wiggle it goes through!
  16. Gotcha cheers
  17. Great info! gives me something to do this afternoon Thanks Mike!
  18. My feed rollers started squeaking yesterday but only when they are loaded. I grease them a couple of times a week and the machine is only on 340 hrs. I'm thinking bearings but don't really want any downtime right now
  19. I disagree, essentially whatever spec we are doing we have two jobs, cut branches off and don't break anything. If the saw was out of view and he was given the go ahead to cut by someone on the ground then it's on that person and whoever left the saw (in this instance the lad probably didn't know or hadn't thought about where the branch would land being so green. IMO the main job as a climber however fast they are is not to break stuff, first and last.
  20. If we could recreate the projection method of the Pilobus Kleinii then the innitial 1,765,800m/s (i think) could be reached in half a second (within earths gravitational pull) although maybe quicker at zero gravity! theoretically of course
  21. I'd be having words with the climber, that saw could have been your newbie.....
  22. I think you'll find it much more comfortable to strop to the branch your working on, it will keep you facing in the right direction
  23. can you manage to stay away from site and just pop out from time to time (round tea breaks!) maybe make some stuff on a lathe in the meantime and do some reading up like you say. I had a lay off for a while year before last and got into doing some carving, it's not like work but keeps you going. wish you a speedy recovery
  24. i gave up summer 2010, used to smoke half ounce of gv every couple of days. i stopped drinking tea, coffee and alcohol for 3-4 weeks (until i found it easy to have a drink and not crave a ciggy) also don't be giving up......be a non smoker!!
  25. about the name change or where he should have posted?
