  1. Hi tony

  2. here's a artical from grace of honey bros about the comp Review of the UK & I 2011 Competition :: Events :: ISA UK&I Chapter
  3. why not reduce before felling? much better for the wildlife and PR even if they do not recover at least you ''tried to save them'' and from a contractors point you can olny fell a tree once:lol:
  4. the itcc started putting extra bells in 2007 but the scoring only changed a couple of years ago, 1 point or part of for every 2 seconds insted of 1 second slower than the fastest time. rhys lost 20 points for not removing all his gear in time (he had miss tied his apline on the access line)
  5. I thought we were now called 'Tree care professionals'
  6. This was a great comp with lousy weather and nearly as many novices as seniors competing. Really went well, results attached. IRISH NATIONAL RESULTS.xls
  7. good vid rupe, why was it running in slow mo though?
  8. from past experance a popular harness with the smaller ladies is the hightec tree hopper or for other 'sizes' the tree flex is good as the girls are more comfortable with the lower on the hips fitting of this harness
  9. a full write up will follow, i'm sure but in the mean time here are the results http://www.isa-arboriculture.org/content/results.htm a big thank you to all the guys and girls who made it a great weekend:thumbup:
  10. i'll be there helping with the tcc
  11. if you want to compette get your forms in now as its filling up fast and i dont think there will be many, if any places left on the day.
  12. if the tuck on the blakes is on the wrong side, this will cause the knot to slide, with a quick glance at the knot you would not notice. stick to prussic when training
  13. yep thats how i tie it
  14. when i tie the helical i cast the top turn over to make it cross works much better, will dig out a pic
  15. a break away is quite hard to make as the forces are not alway the same, i dont think the throw line/or carritool break away is that good, it could be too strong if the tree fails slowly or too weak in normal working. the quick realses is a more predictable option, but must be simple and easy to use as importantly as quick, as when you need it it must be second nature. i have some of those shackes, used for rigging demos so they do release under load, if you want i'll put one in the post.
  16. where abouts will the work be based? (i guess it will be sweden, but where)
  17. i'll be going along
  18. should be coming to york:001_cool:
  19. there is a wood theamed event on the sunday so the saw mill will be going, green wood turners, vintage machinery, rural crafts, charcole making, plenty of live activities but i dont know about face painting and bouncy castles:001_tt2:
  20. about right:thumbup1: but you should realy have one
  21. if anyone does not present a loler cert with their gear, it will be throughly examined(to a loler standard) on the friday,or very early on saturday morning:thumbdown:, if there are any places left by then.
  22. just shy of 30 paid and comfirmed so far. time is running out and i know that there's a few more that said they would be coming. it would be great if we could get more novices from the arbtalkers ranks there:thumbup1:
  23. gear check and regestration will be open from around lunch time on friday, get there early to avoid the evening rush and so the volunteers who will be working can get to bed at a reasonable time. there will be plenty of time in the evening/or after their set up to look at the trees, and there will be a walk round on saturday morning to go over each event/tree before the comp starts
  24. not all yet, want one with your name on; Entry Forms :: ISA TCC :: ISA UK&I Chapter
  25. its realy 245Kn at the rigging point, at its a mesure of force as the mass stays the same:001_tt2: F= M X A but thats just me been perdantic:lol:
