1. just shy of 30 paid and comfirmed so far. time is running out and i know that there's a few more that said they would be coming. it would be great if we could get more novices from the arbtalkers ranks there:thumbup1:
2. gear check and regestration will be open from around lunch time on friday, get there early to avoid the evening rush and so the volunteers who will be working can get to bed at a reasonable time. there will be plenty of time in the evening/or after their set up to look at the trees, and there will be a walk round on saturday morning to go over each event/tree before the comp starts
3. not all yet, want one with your name on; Entry Forms :: ISA TCC :: ISA UK&I Chapter
4. its realy 245Kn at the rigging point, at its a mesure of force as the mass stays the same:001_tt2: F= M X A but thats just me been perdantic:lol:
5. You dont need anything more than your usual climbing kit, if your short of anything we have some spares, even long ropes:thumbup1: LOLER, if you cant produce a cert, you gear will be throughly inspected, if you can produce a current cert your gear will just be check, ok? as its your first time come with an open mind and expect to lean loads, the novice section this year will get majority of the prizes so if you do good expect to come away with loads of goodies:thumbup:
6. the grcs is fine with a 16mm and will take up to a 19mm, but as you say it happer with the smaller ropes, which are also easer to handle.
7. grcs all the way although i've not had a play with the new srw. the hob was desgined when we understood a lot less about the maths involved in rigging, so it is really strong and can handle big ropes, you can cool it when your doing long lowers, prity bomb prof, but i dont need/want to take really big bits that thay cant handle on the ground or reduce the cicles of my ropes, smarter not harder and the lifting is so much better
8. perhaps we could discuss this more if you manage to turn up for a class or two at collage:sneaky2:
9. there good on old hard dry logs, where the screw can bite and crack the log apart, not good on green/soft timber which is long grained as it does not split cleanly. can be very productive on the right timber. logs will only flip or spin if not presented correctly and thats when you get squashed fingers
10. dont know but the min you should be using is 8mm
11. if you like and get on with the hard seat on the dragonfly it will be a big change. see if you can get to one of the shows or borrow one and have a test climb first before investing all that money
12. splices that you've done yourself? there will be plenty of people who can inspect them, without agenda, to make sure that they meet the correct manufactures s technical speciation’s for splicing that rope. look forward to see you there.
13. i dont think that any risk assment can ever justifie not wearing trousers ever ever ever. too hot just take a break in the shade, will be the answer from HSE work smarter not harder for hot day's i have a pair of stilh 'Advandced' A which are very thin and light(dont know how they passed!) start at 5.30am and sit in the pub in the afternoon heat, with cooling beers
14. Honey bros will be having a stand on site so if you need any new goodies(or to replace ones that failed gear insp:001_rolleyes:) the ISA will be having a stand, so you'll will be able to chat about membership and buy books ect treeworker will not be having a stand, because noddy and some of the others that usally do the treeworker show stand will be competting:thumbup1: i've not been able to get a sponsor for the beer yet:thumbdown: so its going the be BYO if you need to have a fire on the camp site it must be off the ground, so bring your own chimnear ect
15. THE SITE IS LOOKING GREAT, THE TREES LOOK CHALLENGING AND THE ORGANISATION SEEMS TO BE ON TRACK . JUST NEED THE GOOD WEATHER TO CONTINUE AND THIS WILL BE A GREAT WEEKEND. ENTRIES It's brilliant that some old favourites have been in touch and intend competing this year to show the young pretenders how it's done ! We're expecting a contingent from Northern and sothern Ireland, and that's always worth watching, (the climbing that is) ! The Swedes are coming to these shores again ! The Welsh are on their way – in case they get lost they are leaving early! In short – the places are filling up so if you are hoping to compete you need to get your entry form in very quickly. SPONSORSHIP HONEY BROTHERS are doing a great job and other sponsors have also joined them to add to the fun. The SAM ROBINSON SPIRIT OF THE COMPETITION AWARD, will this year be sponsored by Steve and Arbtalk, who will be giving a individual trophy to the winner as a keepsake, the main trophy being returnable each year. Goodie bags will be handed to every competitor, technician and judge and at the moment are valued at least £25.00, with sponsorship still coming in weekly. SIP will be supplying some goodies for the bags! They have also agreed to make special climbing trousers for the European Team and the Chapter Champions, giving us a cool look for those lucky enough to qualify ! for climbers the BBQ IS INCLUDED IN YOUR ENTRY FEE, for anyone wanting extra tickets, £6.00 each, and this is not a BBQ of normality – this is something else !(for those who go to the 'first call' bbq its the same caterers) judges and techs will get a bbq ticket as its the least we can do as these events wouldnt happen with out them. as i said in other post camping is included in the entry fee and free for judges and techs, others will be £5 for the weekend there are other events happening over the weekend at the museum and there will be working displays, though i dont know why some things are in a museum, Some of us are probably still using some of this stuff ! The 'antique' Sawmill will be working on Sunday,
16. the camp site is right next to the museum, the trees are right in the middle on the museum site, just past the cafe, which will be open for breakfast:thumbup:
17. if your just coming along to watch, how about getting in for free (although there will be a donation bucket on the isa stand) :thumbup1: just print off the tickets,(copy and paste into word) the museum will be also holding extra activites during the weekend
18. yes ok it s late but for starters check out saturday nights band which are playing at the BBQ STOLEN | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos :thumbup1:
19. you can not tie a schwabish with a loop. klemhiest can only have even numbers of raps.
20. sorry for the delay in replying:blushing: i'll put a full update on the ISA web site in the next day or so, but in the mean time, i hope this answers some of your questions camping is £6 per pitch for the weekend, although it just in a feild the farmer is charging us, but it right next to the comp site. the toilet block, at the center will be open all night, a very short walk. the cafe on site will be open from 7am doing butties tes coffie ect climbers get one pitch (no, you dont get a discount if your not camping:001_tt2:) climbers will get lunch on saturday entry fee for climbers also includes, one ticket for the BBQ, guests tickets are £6 for the BBQ, which is fully catered(meat and ALL the extras pasta, salad, vegie things ect ect) there is also a band on saturday night climbers get free entry to all the museum, geust and the like i am still working on. i am trying to get you all in for free or possiably just a donation. All the climbers get a goodie bag which, thanks to some great work by grace of HB, is looking better than some of the main prizes we used to have. there will be prizes for novice and intermedate climbers as well. all the unsung helpers who judge or tech or just help out get the above, except the prizes:001_tt2: if you want to help out ect drop me a PM and i'll put you on the list for those who want to climb get your form Entry Forms :: ISA TCC :: ISA UK&I Chapter in as soon as possiable. because of the limited numbers places the only way to gaurantee a place is to fill the form in and pay before hand, if there are any places left these will be allocated on FRIDAY evening. we will not have time on saturay for new entrys. gear check will be avaiable for those registered climber turning up (early) on saturday morning, but if you could let me know you are, so i can have enough loler inspectors there to make sure we stay on time. any questions? craig p.s. the event will be run to the new isa rules http://itcc.isa-arbor.com/rules-scoring/resources/2011ITCCRules_Final.pdf
21. what ever VT or system any one uses, does not make them a faster climber. Efficiency Efficiency Efficiency is what makes a faster climber
22. is that because your an experienced climber:001_tt2:
23. me too:blushing: but i like to think of its as XXXXM:lol:
