  1. Tragic news... my thoughts are with his friends and family!!
  2. Great replies people...Thanks for taking the time... Still being fairly green to this its good to know that my thoughts on this match others. And that the qualities I aspire too, and the critisms I make of myself and others are within reason. That said it seems that everyone is different on an individual basis, and I sometimes need to have more confidence in my own way of doing things
  3. What makes an excellent Climbers ?? 1) Strength, Stamina 2) Agility 3) Intelligence - safe, logical, commercial perspective etc 4) A natural instinct for the trees, tools, machinery, adaptable to tree/task 5) Professional attitude (?!) What other suggestions do people have ??
  4. Sure looks like a tight spot!! Quality felling mate..
  5. Very good call Ed!!
  6. Have a blast mate !! and post some pics if you get a chance..
  7. Nice Work Phenom
  8. Hope it gets better soon mate!! Gutted for you if thats your nose picking finger...
  9. Thanks Mate, we've gone for a replacement this time as the saw was pretty virginal .....but I know all these handy repair techniques will be useful next time
  10. Yeah I can agree with that and some of them appear to be much more challenging than others (yeah ..thanks for that!). You can also spot the odd irregularities in the pruning Would still like to know when they were first done and by who?
  11. Hey Silky! Worked in Chiswick area for 2 years, it was my first job when I started fresh from College I wasn't convinced with the pollards. However now I think they are great and look really cool when they have all been freshly done - because you can appreciate the size and structure of the Planes. It is great to think that these trees will just get fatter and fatter over the years. The re-growth as well actually looks really good to after you get passed the pom pom dancer stage (which is amusing!!) - just nice fresh shoots with clean bright leaves. It is the only way these magnificent trees can be maintained in that environment. I think there is big credit due to the Climbers who did the first pollarding!
  12. Very nice looking mono D ...and great to see the Beech lives on !! Will be cool to see how it progresses...
  13. Cool!! I'm already excited about this.... So, Who has got the longest ladders ?? Or do we just get a MEWP in ??
  14. "MARJORIE!! ...Fetch me ma hickory schtick...!" "Ramone wished he could still do the hurdles like he did in his youth!! " Quality picture Stevie...
  15. I managed to kill one growing in my own back wall with some garden centre style "path clear" or something - took a couple of applications and the buddleia was only small but it worked...
  16. It wasn't the fact that he had arrived on it to the theme of the good the bad and the ugly that raised the Jone's suspicions about the "tree surgeon" now "formatively" pruning their veteran Oak - But that parking is shocking
  17. Good work Mick!! Most dates are cool with me cos I am sad with no mates...I assume you mean a weekend though anyway.
  18. Wow!! Ted is a legend and my head is spinning.... Was a great day and all the speakers had something valuable to offer. Think we saw the ad in Essential Arb but not sure, may have been an ISA publ. Very keen to go back for a detailed look around and would be nice to chat more with Ted. Maybe an Arbtalk workshop of some sort could be organised?
  19. Bedgebury would be cool mate - not been there yet but have heard good things..
  20. I'd be up for it ...but would prefer it to be a bit warmer first as this would be for recreation right..? Got any locations in mind - some stunning trees in this part of the world but I still have much exploring to do
  21. Thanks all for your suggestions - the hole isn't massive ...sort of err chain size.. Still got the bit in it as well ...so some araldite could be the quickest/easiest/cheapest solution.
  22. Hi People, Got a 44 with a hole in the petrol tank just over 10mm by 2/3mm on the white/right side - not the clear side. Thinking it could probably be plastic welded and this would be preferable than some kind of sealer. But any suggestions welcome. I not feeling great about this right now so any positive suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  23. I bet your crew love that at break times....would be cool addition to any work site
  24. Never heard/met any of the speakers but I like Ted's attitude from what I have heard/read...shamefully also I have never really had a good look around the great park despite living only 30 minutes away for much of my life.. Treetech would be great to say hi although i'm not sure how many people will be there ?? My names Dan and I'll probably be outside smoking rollies at any given opportunity...Looks like the weather could be interesting..
