  1. Lovely Tractors man,
  2. Love to go but ££'s...one day
  3. congratulations mate!! hope it wasn't too gruelling!
  4. Looks like a good contract! well done
  5. forgot the local council did some here as well but not for subsidence reasons! Was thinking more of the planes and lime pollards but guess they have a reduced water requirement. Did another today a 10m Oak but yet they leave a load of sh***y sycamores and pops. seems to be fairly random sometimes and dare I say it illogical...
  6. hmm mixed responses here.. Did another 10m approx. Yew yesterday - I remain deeply sceptical and think I would refuse this work if it was my business. Drainage is definately an issue - so many "paved" areas and altering rain patterns due to global warming. Don't think felling is a long term solution And what about street trees I don't see councils felling them in a hurry because of the risk to the homeowners - their voters??
  7. Feeling really bad about felling some nice Trees for subsidence claims. I know its paid work but is it always justified ?? Reckon the insurance Companies will eventually clear London of mature trees. Anybody else got any opinions on this?
  8. Cool! Reckon anyone would be convinced if I painted one orange and put black wolf decals on it?? It doesn't have its own ignition source does it ??
  9. Looks like a good job - excellent views from the top!
  10. Got to say I'm with Roller here...Chicks in ballistics and braces sporting chainsaws!!
  11. I'd like to see this tree for real...whereabouts in Nth London is it??
  12. Same as most others for me.. New gear reviews and comparisons Arborist profiles/interviews Hints and tips Technical advice and technique illustrations Tree knowledge and research Current issues/HSE updates Should make it more interesting and relevant for those who don't have £££'s to invest in large plant.
  13. Nice pics!! Would love to have a go at a non-council style reduction...hopefully soon. Like the incinerator too but reckon you would have trouble with smoke free zones down here..
  14. Cheers!! we even got some Scots pines, a wild service and snake bark maple put in... Just hope the ******* don't break 'em or steal them at Christmas time!!
  15. Always one isn't there....
  16. Not on this thread but one the other day someone posted that they were based in W London and wanted stems ?? any takers ??
  17. Very neat work on a beautiful big tree!
  18. I think we have a fairly good go at it....but don't have the figures.. We will have planted about 100 in the last couple of weeks ..but it is council contracts so that is their spec.
  19. You have balls of steel my man!!
  20. Hey Monkeyd... I did check the link was why I edited my first post just playing devils advocate ...
  21. Proper GPS???
  22. ...lol love it ...going to start calling them all Nimby's !!
  23. DAMN!! i think we mentioned this but the suggestion was rebuffed point blank - he won't have it...I am leaving soon ...thankfully!! partly because of this kind of thing. I will make sure the others are aware - although non of them tow it anyway. I am still a little green to all this kind of stuff. Have considered driving to a weighbridge with a typical load but that would get me in trouble I think.
  24. Couple of weeks ago a large Aesculus fell over a main road - bit unpredictable as the trees have only just started to show signs of problems this year. A week later 6 more mature trees have all been felled ...I guess it is the unpredictablility that is scaring authorities into action. No doubt some magnificent Rowans will replace these mature beauties. Most city dwellers don't really like trees but they do subconciously find comfort in seeing greeness around them - they just don't care about the detail.
  25. Touch wood I've been lucky and not pulled - typically our transits could have one or two minor faults at one time. tyres, lightboards, reg plates etc I have also heard straight from the horses mouth that fully loaded our vans would not carry more than one tonne = Bu***sh*T and I am towing the tw190. How far can you argue with the Boss before you are shown the door...staying within weight limits and using only transits would seriously jeopardise productivity.. An o-license and bigger trucks is required but he won't shell out.
