  1. The 14hoss is £3,495 plus, whilst the 18hoss with electricstart is £3,995 plus. Apart from the battery and starter the weight is the same as near as dammit. "Looks like Road Runner" MEEP MEEP!
  2. Well spotted, that is the Rajo which GreenMech were importing, but for the same reasons as Nige and the Jo Beau, we stopped importing them. We have since gone on to design and build our own called the CS100. SWB has the CS100 with a 14hp engine and you can get 18hp with electric start.
  3. If my memory works right, they were a tad under 790kgs. Good little machine in their day.

    090 on Ebay

Hah! I've got a lightely used barless one in the garage. Av handle but brake. Yar boo Sucks. Originally it had afive foot bat with a handle on tother end with an extra oiler. Loud as ever but thegrunt made fingers shiver....
  5. 'Phone Micheal Large the GreenMech dealer, he should be able to hire you the GreenMech CS100.
  6. I heard this today from within the trade. I had the pleasure of supplying Nature First with some chippers and found martin and the rest of the staff very kind, courteous and knowledgable. Best regards to his family and the staff at Nature First, I'm sure he will be sadly missed. Far play to the man for doing an incredible journey for a worthy cause.
  7. I was offered a chunk of money for it by Dougie Bennet a while back for a double ended planker. (thats a saw - not Dougie) How would I stand flogging something with no chainbrake and inadeqaute AV system tho?

    Sales calls

Urmm.....those of us who sell stuff to folks like you are also trying to earn a living. I personally don't like the cold call 'phone technique but sometimes it has to be done. I prefer to go and knock on someones door and get face to face with them. You can soon tell if you are a pain in the arse and your apology for interrupting them does then carry some meaning. Outfits with an office are easy to get in front of, but you guys who run their business from home are harder to get in front of because your truck is you office during the day so sometimes we sales folk have to do the 'phone thing. I do agree tho with the tone of this thread and have got my home number recognised with the phone preference people.
  9. Blimey!, bin it and get a new one.
  10. I've got an 090 stuffed in the garage but I ain't heard of an 009. Probably cheaper to buy and new equivelent tho.
  11. Hi Ben, Fletchers still are the importers for the TS range of woodchippers so would be able to supply a new one or you could take it to Eddy George at Long Whatton and ask hime to fabricate a new one. Eddy used to do welding and fabricating bits for Barrowcliffs many years ago. Cheers.
  12. King! Just where did you dig that up from? Methinks you have too much time on your/in your hands!
  13. BTS have a shop in Needham Market.
  14. Sad news to loose a pioneer in the trade. Condolences to his family and friends.
  15. Defrosting here in North Leicestershire. Had some yesterday but that soon turned horrible due to the cold.
  16. I once put a deposit down on a new Landrover HiCap as there wasn't a 130 single cab pickup anywhere. I asked the dealer in Nottingham to do a round robin of LR stock and was told there wasn't one in stock anywhere. Two days later I saw one advertised in Stratford - the agent in Nottingham just said "Tuff, you've just lost 1700 quid". Needless to say I got the 130 and never went near the dealer in Nottingham again, and at that time I was after a 4.2LSE Range Rover as well. So he lost a bit more than that over the years!
  17. Blimey Lee! That must be some time ago, I did not even know that Wessex did them before we did. How long ago was that and how much were you quoted? We used to flog them for about £5,200 plus vat.
  18. Lee, when I said hydro drive, I meant that it was hydro static drive to the transpoprt wheels not the head. In all honesty they were a good grinder - but then what is so different from other small grinders. They all have an engine (mostly Kohler V2), most have an electric clutch and the same muscles to use them, they all have a couple of bearings and a dead man's handle. Some are heavier than others and there are a variety of cutters available from Patrick Watts 50p peice to sSandvik tips, greenteth etc etc. But they all do the same job.
  19. Shaggy, well done mate for entering and winning a prize on the Arbtalk Raffle 2009. I think you won the GreenMech Fleece and mug. PM me with you address etc and I'll get it sent out early next week.

    Cheers

  20. Nice one Lee, it reminded me of the fella I started in Overhead Lines with back in '82. He always sang this song.
  21. Well done! Could you ask the new owner to register it with GreenMech to avoid confusion in the future. Cheers.
  22. I thought the skidder a bit dear for an "off farm" machine.
  23. Click the link on the Danequip site, apparantly they do a good and narrow grinder
  24. I have heard of it being done, in fact I did a couple when I worked in the GreenMech service department some 10 years ago. The thing to be aware of is the gap between the rollers, some woodchippers have a "stop" to prevent the top hitting the bottom, if there is one then you can adjust the gap. If there ain't - you could end up with too big a gap between them for thin stuff. Generally speaking, as long as there is some kind of edge and the spring is in good nick then all should be okay.
