  1. I was discussing trucks and weights etc with someone the other day and recounted the tale of a company which had a fleet of very tidy Transit's with chip box, ladder rack and tool box but could only carry 500kgs. My colleague then told me that they had a sample truck over the weighbridge with staff, lunch, all tools and so on and it actually left 45kgs or the front axle was over loaded! What a complete waste of time. Our transport laws are not really taking into account by the manufacturers it would seem. Another firm I visit will regularly run 7.5tonne lorries with 2 or 3 tonne over weight!
  2. I was unable to go due to family commitments but I would be interested if anyone wrote down the results in the catalogue. Greg says that the GreenMech went or £21k plus vat, who got it? anyone know? I wanted to go, not only as a GreenMech rep but I was going to make a bid on the garage stuff for myself - what did that lot fetch? RobsonKay do not publish their results!
  3. I would have "felt" that something was wrong if I was the driver. A slight waywardness in driving should have been apparent if they were that bad surely.
  4. Quite often it has been inverted office hours - 5 'til 9. Other days vary from 8 'til 5 upto 14 hours per day, some weekends when at shows etc but don't really specify what hours I work. Even done a couple of 24+ hour shifts, and a couple of periods in my earlier sales days of doing 80 hours between monday morning and saturday night! If you are self employed then stop when you have earnt enough money!
  5. Hope everything is going according to the plan - best wishes for the weekend!
  6. I don't really like corned beef but I must admit to salivating a bit over the stew version. I might give that a go to see if my childhood dislike of CB has gone!
  7. Come on Mick, you southern wuzzes have rhyming slang - apples and pears, gold watch and you stick buttons on your coats (whats that about?) and so on. Leave the hard working grafters from north of watford alone.
  8. Cool stuff, how are they de-commisioned or do you just leave them underground?
  9. I thought the hoody with the reflective stripes was good ppe. No future for the world!
  10. Sweet! I bet he felt a bit of a dick!
  11. I'd be in except for the fact that it would
  12. I heard that they are robust enough except that the infeed safety bar latch is onsided only. Cannot go wrong with the Osbornes as a supplier tho. Not as good as a GreenMech tho:sneaky2:
  13. Beg your pardon Mr Butler - I think it is you who is ignorant in trying to belittle people for not fully understanding, because they have never been taught or believe in what you do! I don't think it is good practice to call people "ignorant" because they have a different view or follow a different religion to yourself. You could do well to keep your opinions to yourself unless asked!

    Cool trick

Wicked find Tommy - I having a go at that!
  15. Hi Mark, to run other stuff on the front of any skid steer, you have to make sure that you have the right hydraulic flow/pressure. Another thing to check is that you have adequate cooling and hydraulic fluid capacity. The average skiddy is great for grabbing, lifting and carrying but may not have the cojones to run a mulcher or stumpy! If the have, then they can be a valuable tool. The other thing to check out is how much competition you would have and the rates that they are getting.
  16. Thanks for paying attention folks. A totally bizarre one this. A member of the public thought that it looked stolen and hidden so the Police had it recovered from a railway site tracked it along 3 quarters of a mile of railway property and Hiabbed it over a fence. Far play to the Police for doing it. But how did they get on NR property without permission, if they had permission - surely NR would have said that some works were being undertaken, surely the evidence of tree work in the area would have suggested to whoever that it was a working site!
  17. Have you considered rebuilding the engine, it only might need a rebore and oversize pistons/rings. Could it get away with the judicious use of a "glaze buster"?
  18. I think that Vosa are becoming extremely active towards "soft" targets. Remember - if it weighs more than 3.5 maximum allowed mass - you should keep manual records as well as tacographs! And only the last 28 days should be kept in the truck. That gem cost me £200 to find out that!
  19. Alan Oldfield (Beaver Plant)has just rang me to inform us that a buttercup yellow GreenMech 1928 SafeTrac has been stolen from a railway site close to York on the York to Harrowgate stretch. The serial number is 9155 and as stated, was a buttercup yellow machine. Contact either myself on 07774 282481 or Alan direct on 01759 372552 with any information. There are now two buttercup yellow 1928 STC that are on the stolen list both stolen of rail jobs.
  20. My thoughts exactly. If, however, you do pay rent of any kind, how can they throw you out? Surely even a "tide"cottage renter gets a certain amount of notice. Arbtalk does have a "job hunter" section, post your details on there and every other site that is known to man. Ring all the companies based in the area that you will be living in. Get on yer bike! Good Luck.
  21. GreenMech are taking a CS100 to BTME at Harrogate next week - I don't know what else is there as I've not looked at the exhibitor list yet.
  22. Spot on! The 252 and 260 had a "opener" rather than a crusher.
  23. The discharge stays upright on the QuadTrack. But it is still a distinctive model tho.
  24. What machine is it and why do you want to fit it?
