  1. I thought that I would lob up a few pictures from the recent GreenMech Factory Tour which seems to have well received by those attending. I decided to post them here rather than in "Pictures" as they are specifically to do with machinery!
  2. I thought that the usual places (Barrow and 'Sorrel) would be shut, but where is that Ben? I see that the A6 at Hathern was shut and it was wet by Zouch and past The Planks at Kegworth. Only the second time I recall it wet there since 1982..
  3. It was one of the (many) things my ex wanted to cite me for in the divorce!!! Unless it can cause sleep apnopia or marital grief then why bother trying to change? My girlfriend hasn't complained even when I drown out the TV!!!
  4. If you can avoid the floods - get along to this event and see the GreenMech range and have ago on an RTV or ATV.
  5. Bob's toy box is the best and fullest in the West Midlands...and quite varied too. I remember selling it to him and has barely used it. I wished I'd known because I've had to borrow one no and again to demo to someone else....
  6. Rare as hen's teeth but not expensive to buy new....
  7. Did I read somewhere that you have to serve in the forces for some 20 years to get a good pension but serve only one term as an MP to get a full pension?
  8. Tractor - the engine of the Volvo 240 turbo / ??????? - ?????? - YouTube Mental Volvo 240Turbo powered tractor!
  9. How far into Cornwall? You could ask Dougie Bennett at Tavistock Chainsaws if he has one or knows of one. Try Highway Plant and PD hire if they know too. If you do call Doug, say "Hi" for me.....
  10. I think that that is a fair and reasonable price. Afterall, the guy has had to drive from Spilsby with one for you to try, he has invested in one as a demo machine and like all here present, has to make enough to pay his salary and put a little aside for a rainy day. Believe me, he isn't making a ton of money out of you....
  11. By the looks of, no....is there an agri forum to ask on?
  12. GreenMech are teaming up with their dealer for Somerset, Devon and Dorset at the West Point Arena for a woodchipping/off road ATV event! Free to all with refreshments provided between 10:00am and 15:30 on Tuesday 27th November - that is next week! Come along and see/try the range of GreenMech woodchippers with the area sales rep, Julian Cullis and have a go on a Kubota RTV or a Honda ATV on the specially built 4x4 off road course!
  13. We have had a few Colleges ask to come and these are being arranged as a separate thing. The day is still going ahead with only a few places left. Send a pm with your details to book your spot! No ticket, No Entry! If your name isn't on the list, you cannot come in!

    Strong bridge

I see this and remember Ashby de la Zouch rail bridge by (what was) Mitchell's yard before the M42 was built and the main road from Birmingham to Nottingham went through town. Many a truck got stuck under that......
  15. Give Graham Satchwell at Chipper International and ask if he has flogged a Gandini thing local to you.....
  16. A new box for a GreenMech is several hundred pounds and we used to use the same supplier from Germany, a company called EHB. I believe that Schilesling, TP and a couple of other makes also use the same people too. By the way, yours is a Tunnisen or TS woodchipper.
  17. Wartburg were an Eastern European car that were two stroke engined! They were simple awful but cheap... am I the only person here who is that old, that they can remember Warburg!!! Surely not....
  18. They have recovered a chipped from a barn in Pudsey and the Police are dealing with it....
  19. Sketchy details at the moment but 3 GreenMech woodchippers were stolen from one outfit based in the Leeds area at the weekend. I think that one has been recovered but two brand new Arborist 150 are still missing. These will have stickers from Rodgers Plant Hire in Holley, Huddersfield on them. More details to follow.....
  20. Talk to Outdoor Power Tools in Glenfield. Ian Collington is the rep.
  21. You mentioned processing in the yard as a cheaper alternative to a road towable machine....the point of a towable is taking the machine to the job and not the job to the machine. A truck will carry 5 times more brash in chip form than fresh off of the tree! We have a new 6x9 inch PTO driven unit out soon, it will take uptown 60hp I'm told and will be side fed with the option to tow a smallish grain trailer behind it....
  22. Fair point Roseyweb..... I would not say that this thread is just about the motor though. Both us here at GreenMech and Timberwolf use Japanese engines as do a few other makes and that is because the overall package is good. This thread started on the back of a comment about a woeful peice of kit made (badly) in China. I personally would always advise someone to buy "mainstream" rather than cheap! A friend's father bought a Wartburg car back in the 70s, it fetched scrap money at three years after nothing but trouble. Even a Leyland Marina was worth a lot more! If you are a professional, use professional......
  23. What size capacity and does the tractor have 540, 540e, 750 or 1000 speed box?
