  1. Spooky really! Was it a brace or a band to hang something from? Cable or light maybe?
  2. Platts Harris, the GreenMech dealer for Notts, Derbyshire and Leicestershire has had a new QuadChip Stolen from their premises in Tuxford. I'll update this post with the serial number later.
  3. Turners rebadged early Gandini chippers. When Gandini stopped supplying, we engineered our own. Further refinement has took us to where we are today. A global supplier and the biggest in Europe. Some years ago, we imported a unit made and supplied in Europe, this unit was good but it was low volume due to the price. We asked if they would re-engineer to a lower price and when they wouldn't, we decided to! All these other, low cost, imports do have a market but we sell ours through a dealership network which can support our products and our customers and that costs. Our higher priced units retain their value and are not chuck away items! You come to me and want to use your import as a deposit in a bigger unit and we can do business, but your £1500 device stays with you!
  4. I had a look at the Marcus advert for the Delek. Was quite surprised to see that one of the photographs was a Tech drawing of the CS100 cassette and drum! The Chinese stuff is a lot cheaper than European built stuff as their raw materials and labour are considerably cheaper. Incidentally, when the chute on the Delek is folded, is there an interlocking interface to prevent the engine from running?
  5. Stay mainstream, it will have a value at the end of your tenure and it will comply with Eurospecs and be better supported. "Pay cheap, pay twice or thrice and lived with your regret!"

Look at re-routing it? If it is possible, but bear in mind any future 'needs', suck the air out of the tank with a vacuum and while the suction is keeping the oil up, re-route the hose! Fit a tap too, we do on our SafeTracs.

Suction hose to main pump? Should be okay as hoses are pretty tough to be honest.
  8. Where are you based? Previous suppliers of the TP would be Osbournes down Southampton way, Ibbotts near Huntingdon, Price's at the top of Lancashire and now Jas P Wilson in Dumfrieshire. The shear bar could be built up by and re-profiled by an engineering company but sometimes, buying new is quicker and cheaper. As said earlier, my biggest concern would be that the controls satisfy the current HSE spec, otherwise, the machine is scrap. From memory, the TP system was fairly simple and easy job. A call to Wilson's with the serial number would be a good investment!
  9. Hydraulic systems generally have a 'blow off' valve which allows oil to go back to tank should the rollers get jammed. This, one some GreenMech machines is set at 3000psi, above that pressure, a valve opens to allow the extra pressure to bypass the system. Over time, this valve may work at a lower pressure giving the rollers less strength. If you find that value from TP or Ducker, have the valve reset to that and it could transform that issue. I would check that the controls function to the correct standard of today. This can be found at the Health and Safety Executive webpage. If it doesn't comply then some more work or alterations may be needed prior to it being used in anger. Blades should be sharpened uniformly so that the cut efficiently and to a degree, the balance of the rotor is maintained. The shear bar should also have a square edge, either buy a new one or have the old one built up with hard face weld and re-profiled on a surface grinder. Good luck with your endeavours and keep us updated - it is good to see someone 'have a go'.
  10. Well done on the re-vamp Steve! Well worth the effort and hassle in pulling it off!

  11. No names mentioned here but can you imagine the call to the boss about his new GreenMech which had a lump drop on it?
  12. Umpteen years ago, I hired one while a Transit was re-shelled following a crash. I have to admit, I was woefully disappointed at the volume that they could legally carry. Partially due to the truck body and length, partially due to distribution. We thought that shortened 10 or 12 tonner would have been better for not much more money!
  13. GreenMech sell their own blade grinder which uses the radius rather than the flat. See it on YouTube! There are many firms that sharpen blades, my old outfit had a quality Ag engineer on the doorstep, J L George and Son at Long Whatton, who did both flat and disc blades as well as our lorry bodies and sundry other stuff!
  14. I read somewhere that it will hit those that employ people to work for them and as a pre-qualification for contracts etc. Cars and trucks have their reg scanned as they enter the city and that info is stored at DVLA and is checked live, with penalties issued by post. If it is a site machine then it is up to the site Forman to police with penalties issued by the LA.
  15. I'm not sure if they use the EFI unit or the carb model. I'm told that the EFI is more fuel efficient.
  16. Existing machines exist! But on sites in London, plant and machinery will have to comply. Sub 26hp diesel engines will be exempt but things like the existing range of 35hp engines will become heavier, very complicated and expensive! If we (Inc all manufacturer's) add £5k to the buying price if a dub 750kg machine, would you buy it? We will carry on with our 26hp diesel but have already released our 37hp Petrol EFI sub 750kg platform.
  17. A very valid point made in a previous post - 'online is cheaper' hence no supplier up north as people try it on then go to the computer! I often say that a local supplier may be a tad dearer than a black supermarket but they are not local! Support your local dealers and they will be 'there' in a crisis and support you!
  18. Feel sorry for the chap's family. I doubt if the contractor believed his day's work would end do badly too. Commiserations to all the sufferer's.
  19. Sometimes, a trailer can be too 'light'. Our 1928 is a tad over 2000kgs. And close to your target weight if it has the light tiwer, winch and electrical recovery kit.
  20. Schliesing. Well, according to their website, that's how it is spelt. Predictive does change it as well!
  21. Not quite Dave, you spelt it wrong!
  22. GreenMech's tagline is "The Professionals' Choice".
  23. I have heard that GreenMech machines have been well with this and other stringy material such as Flax too.
  24. Aargh but! When I go to sell her, she had a continuous history! The number Isent transferrable so why the bother?
  25. The renewal has come in, although it hasn't moved and I keep renewing but I noticed that it says 'relevent' not certificate needed!
