  1. Boris Johnson 2016: There's no plan for no deal because we're going to get a great deal. Boris Johnson 2019: We've got the deal, it's oven ready, let's get Brexit done. Boris Johnson 2020: The UK should get ready for no deal.
  2. Wrong thread though.
  3. Ba-boom tush.
  4. There was a Matelot at one point. He was a shitgibbon.
  5. I did like Corbyn, he came across as honest. Which was probably his downfall.
  6. I suppose that there's always a risk that someone is going to have to take the push out of things. Most people are fair. Kickstarting a manufacturing based economy is going to take some serious investment and some time for it show a turnaround. I've no idea how that's on the cards. I saw those 'jackets' parked up in Jarrow, on the way up North. It staggers the imagination that we don't make them here. I had no idea that was the case, I'd assumed they'd been built here.
  7. I'm cool to meet up for a brew/pint, web-based communication has its flaws. I spend my working days surveying trees and writing up the results of said surveys. I was involved in contracting for fifteen years before getting into the clipboard business.
  8. Not hard left. I've never been hard left. Left of centre at best. Probably right of centre on some things. Just because I believe in spreading the wealth and encouraging a culture of equality, I'm no Che Guerva.
  9. I'm not suggesting you're one of them. I've noticed that there has been a trend towards the more vocal and aggressive defense of the right wing stance since around then, on all forums, not just this one. What's your interest in my business? I'm planning on getting to work with some land soon. Timber framing is something I know nothing about. Arbtalk is a wicked resource. Gan Canny.
  10. Aye, there was in influx of right wing 'commentators' who joined arbtalk around brexit time and have hung around since then. There were some before but they eventually got booted out. Not that that there's anything wrong with that.
  11. Brexit: UK must 'get ready' for no EU trade deal, says PM WWW.BBC.CO.UK Boris Johnson has not walked away from trade talks - but says the EU must change direction to save them. Newsflash: Boris Johnson fails to negotiate the easiest trade deal in history.
  12. What are you on about? You started with a rant about Hollywood's woke offerings, and then warped into something to do with televisions, and then went sideways to an angry rant about C-19. Are you alright mate?
  13. At the end of the day, TV shows are there to generate revenue from advertising. That could be for a product or an ideology. Whatever is topical, or is soon to be topical, will be what's delivered.
  14. I think this is a fair point. There seems to be a disproportionate amount of action movies featuring superheroes. Either way, it's good to see balanced debate.
  15. I know it was suggested that some people were getting tested twice: Used coronavirus tests handed out by mistake in Birmingham WWW.BBC.CO.UK One student who was given a used kit said some people had opened and used the testing kits.
  16. In the first instance I'd get some cutting boots, some cutting trousers, a helmet and some waterproofs. Plus a chainsaw ticket or two - Maintenance and crosscutting + felling small trees would be good start. I'd be inclined to work for a few firms, unless the one you're with is evidently good. The more people you can work with, the more skills, hints and techniques you'll pick up.
  17. Aye Rob, My eight year old niece had to isolate due to a kid in her class testing positive for covid-19. Yet her folks don't as they're secondary contacts. Nor does her wee sister who goes to the same school. It's difficult to know how to approach it.

It's clear you have no semse of humour. Accept that this thread will be over your head.

Aye, four dots on the knuckles. I'm good mates with a copper, so would suggest that ACAB is a bit too broad.

  22. I was told that he was a piano tuner in a past life. Can't go wrong with Thor.
  23. I wouldn't pin my hopes on getting a core sample that is readable throughout. I reckon hiring in a resistograph for a day would be your best bet for a chance of determining the age of the tree. I would only use a borer if I wanted to know how solid a tree was or wasn't. I've been shown how to use a fractometer but haven't had cause to use one.
