  1. I liked Corbyn, he seemed honest. I have no stake whatsoever in the labour party in its current form. If there was an election tomorrow the green party would get my vote. Who would you vote for?
  2. Alright petal... You can get a moisture metre for not many quids. I know that chip boxes in tree trucks get pissed in, a lot. I'd be reticent to be putting my lips on any logs, but each to their own.
  3. Have you tried setting them alight? It's quite apparent when wood is wet.
  4. Aye, ash is drier than most woods but seasoning any wood will enhance it. Diseased ash will be bone dry though.
  5. 1) Yes, it will burn, it'll probably be bone dry if it isn't made of dust. 2) Ash isn't really suited to being used for outdoor furniture. 3) I think that once the tree is dead, it's dead. Degradation of woody tissues may be arrested if the wood is kept moisture free. Left outside it'll probably turn to mush. 4) Ash Dieback will affect a tree form the 'top down'. You might get some good planks, there's a chance that the dieback will add some nice colouration to any salvageable boards.
  6. It seems like Norn Iron is kicking off:

  9. Years ago it seemed like everyone (apart from mogs and schliesing) was rocking timberwolf 150's. Greenmech make decent chippers, we got a green 150 when the orange one died. It was an excellent piece of kit. You will probably make more money by putting your staff through a trailer ticket and buying an 8"+ chipper than you will with a 6" chipper.
  10. An engineering solution might be favourable. Without knowing the structure of the soil there is no way to predict heave.
  11. The tree predates the conservatory. I'd be cautious about recommending removal without site investigations.
  12. Yup. Those surveys would cost more than the 1K excess you're likely to have. It may be worth involving insurance.
  13. If there's no birds then crack on.
  14. It's probably tricky to quantify. I've only used a resistograph on 'suspect' trees which were compromised to such an extent that a wee hole or two wouldn't really make a difference.
  15. Job and knock. Get the job done in a timely manner and go home.
  16. The A406 is indeed a bastard.
  17. The devious Scottish ploy to give nurses a four per cent pay rise: how it works WWW.THEDAILYMASH.CO.UK GIVING NHS nurses a decent pay rise is the latest in Scotland’s long line of nefarious plans. Here’s how the diabolical...

  19. He was quoting from records. I'd even go as far as to say he was highlighting the word as something we shouldn't be proud of. How can it be unacceptable to say things in historical context? You can't just pretend that words don't exist. I'm 43 and casual racism was the norm when growing up, thankfully we've mostly moved on from there as a society. It's usually clear when someone has an agenda and I don't think our American friend has one.
