  2. fair point buddy I quick scanned it ,oops , he also refers to Cs ,, presumed ntpc etc personally after all these years in the game things haven't changed and probably wont , until customers realise the inherent danger and their joint liability if owt goes wrong ,, the best foot forward approach & not worry about what others do,
  3. Well said Andy However Notts Arb may not be referring to Academic arb quals he may in fact be referring to any tree quals inc vocational "licence to practice" , "certs of competence" and no there is not over riding body as such that you must qualify through to be a Tree Surgeon. the multi organisation RT2 scheme is trying build that ladder of skills, but right now no other than an obligation to do work safely and train employees & have a fit for purpose rescue provision when working at height in law the use of a top handled chainsaw is only allowed by a competent operator and not ground use , so thats the only deal breaker really as to be competent you would need to do at least 4 COC assessments, maintenance felling , tree climbing & rescue & use of top handled saw. I might have got the context wrong ,but perhaps another side of the debate re quals
  4. Awesome ... well done to all those Arbtalk members who supported this cause

  9. If I were advising your client , I would suggest they contact the owner directly, asking what he /they intend to do with the tree following the recent event & when they/he intends to remove the materials which are currently fouling their property and abstructing the tenant from the free and reasonable use of the dwelling and its gardens which maybe be seen as an actionable nuisance. with a caviat as to any response should to include the details of any professional or legal advise the owner is relying on for any standpoint.

  14. if you strap the liability will land with you ! as a professional tradesman or company who have carried out that service. strapping in the full knowledge that the intervention it is not likely to hold ,, if it will hold then no problem ,, why advise Sept the bird nesting ends 31 July perhap its best to be a bit selfish, after all your advise has been ignored for 6 months

  16. well that's mine bought for the 7th year on the bounce ... great cause , If you can support this it is after all for children
  17. Yep I agree with Rich its most likely they refer to your qualification to recommend works not your vocational skills set that you use to carryout the works, local authorities can only require that works are conducted in line with Bs3998 2010 as to do otherwise may financially disadvantage those tree owners who are potentially able to read, understand and implement the works identified to the above standard however the works recommendations & or application & or notice 211 of intent to do works need some supporting qualification to support the process to give a qualified view point of the tree & those works needed for good tree management intervention.
