  1. personally id be very carefull and wary giving advice like that, especially not knowing 100% of the facts
  2. I know at least 2 people on arbtalk who are quicker climbing on a prusick than most of the other people on the forum climbing on what ever system they think is best The old saying , all the gear and no idea springs to mind Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. You don't need 2 carabiners, a dmm boa is large enough The other point is that he is a beginner, start at the beginning, learn the basics and advance when ability allows, he doesn't have to be a srtwpblahblahblah convert from the word go Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Why complicate things, cheap harness, 4 carabiners 2 prusicks and a cheap rope. A perfectly good vt setup can be purchased for less than the price of a hitchclimber. The treemagineers must be laughing their way to the bank with all the advertising from you guys who seem to think its the only setup Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. why is 1 truck an issue? plan larger dismantles to get the brash off in day 1 and timber on day 2 or put the loader on the back of the truck and tow the chipper
  6. eldest of 5, 3 brothers and a sister
  7. if you worked without a chipper it would make you apreciate it when you eventually got one, you tripped up before with finance you couldnt manage, why make the same mistake again? or are you after the image? get some work in the diary a reputation and earn what you need to buy more equipment
  8. tony why dont you just buy a cheap pickup (nothing flash), a ground saw an 020 and get going? im not sure why you need loans??? I suppose it depends how much you want it though, talks cheap
  9. my ascenders are used on an almost daily basis footlocking a doubled line, ive never noticed any glazing issue but there is certainly wear on the plastic handles
  10. It will still be coverd by puwer Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. The manual is not, and will not be gospel. The ce mark issue of homemade equipment would be the stumbling point Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. tachyon splice and xtc ropeguide
  13. great job guys, and certainly one id enjoy myself
  14. have you got much work lined up?
  15. yeah eds been in 4 days this week yes it does have a enclosed chip box
  16. when do you need it for?
  17. For me srwp solves a problem that doesn't exist. I have tried it and there is no benefit for me, as i found a well planned climb eliminates friction. It seems to me that people need to use redirects when using swrp for tip pruning as you dont have the mechanical advantage to pull your self back in when climbing on very small diameter stuff.redirects are now a necessity to carry out the work As mentioned I use srt for access when needed but mostly footlock with ascenders
  18. agreed, i think people have created a problem that doesnt really exist i do use srt or footlock for access
  19. small pine removal over an imaculately maintained and well loved garden. heavy leaner towards the house, climbed and rigged the top down the lifted the stem backwards with the GRCS.
  20. mine served me very well when i first started. it depends how much you want to succeed. you make what you have availible to you work
  21. not anymore i dont
  22. sign writing isnt important at first, a you can get a clean mazda/ford ranger for less than 3k
  23. people seem to forget that there are plenty of cheap pullys out there for a simple vt setup, for example Petzl Oscillante Swing Cheek Pulley | GO Outdoors coupled with some hitch cord tied with double fishermans, a perfectly servicable vt setup for less than £15.00
  24. buy a pick up, stack the brash and run it to the dump buy a rigging kit when you need it buy a chipper when you think you can afford it buy another truck when you get busier remember your now going to need somewhere to keep all this gear no body can really tell you how to do it, only you know when the right time to do things is
