  1. Poss use mine if interested. 3 acre mostly trees, half a dozen seq's, plenty 70-90' beech etc. 75' barn if anyone wants to camp over and the weather is shite. Bit further north than most (20 mile south Carlisle) but some of the Scottish lot might be tempted to also invade!
  2. Been using one of the Stein lids (Kask) for the last few months with the dark visor on it. Normally just been giving the visor a wash/clean on the lid but after not being able to see too much the other day I decided to give it a spring clean. That was the theory until I found I couldny get it off The finger nut on the outside is just spinning the internal fitting round on both sides. Stuck some penetrating oil on it so will see if that helps. Anyone else come accross the same problem? Love the helmet but dont want to buy a new one whenever the visor needs sorting.

  5. I agree with how you feel, it does seem like they have seen thier arse. Trouble is if they have been taken for £'s by utilities company they may be keen to get some back. I cant see how they can refuse to visit the site, it is thier job after all.
  6. Very good advice Kev Do all you can NOT to p people off. Just phone the local NP tree officer and talk to them. Most are from the same plannet as us
  7. Black n white! http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/afag804.pdf (try reading no 22)
  8. I believe that the skill of a good arb is way beyond that which we would normally associate with the term sem-skilled. In many industries arbs would actually be classed as muti-skilled. But, if we were to be classed as skilled then what would Mattheck, etc, etc be classed as? We have the ability to learn from the principles they bring into the industry, but are we actually capable of forming these principles from scratch? Classification has always been and always will be subjective. I am happy being what I am no matter where someone else may class me.
  9. Thought arbtalk was here to help people learn about the industry. His client is in the industry and by posting on here he to me is trying to do the best for his client - how many accountants would go that far? Excuse me for not realising that there is a level of industry knowledge/experience required as a pre-requisite for posting and for being so ignorant as to believe people actually come on here to try and learn things and gain information to help them and others. We are obviously giving a shining example of the industry to 'outsiders' I for one would actually have liked a structured answer to the question because Ltd has crossed my mind a few times.
  10. Number of post have nothin to do with it. Asking a simple question where someone then gets the wrong end of the stick (intentually or un-intentually) can be frustrating. If people RTFQ and asked if they did not understand it would help stop pointless posts like this one. My rant over.
  11. Got HTC HD2 and like it. I have been told it will upgrade to WM7 without any problems. The batt life is not great (charge every couple of days) but you cant really expect anything else when you consider what its running. The only slight gripe I have is the keyboard. Being fat fingered I hit the wrong keys too often, if it had a pen option as well it would be better.
  12. I'm 6'4" bfg and found it spot on, give jones'y a ring and he will sort you out

Sorry Dave but try reading it again - its AND not OR! Two simple points 1 Try claiming on your insurance for a rigging failure/claim without 41. 2 Refresher is a refresher (eg LANTRA), not NPTC. NPTC does not go out of date, but again wait until you try to claim on insurance if you cant proove current competence. Like many other things nobody will bother you, your insurance company will keep taking your premiums etc - until something goes wrong.

  22. Im 6'4" bfg and find the skylotec v.good. New models out so dont know what they will be like. I think one is a sport (softer) and the other bigger back and solid leg pads like the original. (still not plumb proof I bet)
  23. Go blunt way too fast for the money IMO Scabbard is pants and I can get loads of accidental 'drops' from it. Had to file the end of the scabard so chip etc will not block it up every 5 min, allowing the saw to fit in snug. I will keep getting blades for it but I dont think I will buy another if the handle/scabbard breaks.
