  1. No work no pay, simples!
  2. Unbelievable...............................
  3. Add another to that
  4. If you haven't got the gear you shouldn't be advertising the service thats my opinion, if you've got so much work for land owners why not turn away wok you're not equiped to deal with?
  5. Do you have adequate insurance to cover contactors? I mean a man with a van [actualy truck] is unlikely to have insurance covering chainsaw use. I've employed self employed climbers and groundsman in the past whether they had insurance was of no concern to me, qualifications were priority to me. My insurance covered them, it was my legal obligation .. Are you actually after a groundsman with a truck? your original post was unclear
  6. I own the best! Stihls biggest clearance saw and mulcher blade
  7. If you're employing a contractor self employed or not its your responsibility to have the contractor covered within your public liability/ employers liability insurance, and thats THE LAW!!
  8. Got to agree 100%...........
  9. OOPS!............
  10. The vibration is terrible, I own one
  11. You'd be best preparred to sit at home a lot then, jobs that can pay a subbie climber £250 a day are very few and far between
  12. I'd buy another tomorrow!!
  13. I owned one mate, good machine not a single problem , I hear some have had vibration problems, there is a dealer mod kit fitted costs around £500, but imo most of the probs are caused by the operator, you have two speed settings fast and slow, fast for drive speed slow for cutting, my guess is numptys are using it on high speed to cut......
  14. are we getting confused with CHAS ''contractors health and safey scheme'' and constructiononline which is basically an online directory that merely requires members to be CHAS accredited? Constructiononline wanted £1500 for me to join there little club, errr no thanks!
  15. Utter rubbish, I've had two TW's and would have another tomrrow!!
  16. Don't know how anyone can cost per hour, what happens when your chipper sits around for 2 weeks or two days etc etc because the job you're involved in doesn't require a chipper.. A weekly daily rate is far better imo
  17. I don't know, but is arbtalk really the place to discuss and accuse people of sellling nicked gear? imo you should have called the seller, and if you smelt something wasn't quite right contacted the police and ebay.......... This site isn't Crimestoppers............
  18. Turkish hazel without a doubt
  19. The trouble is when you've been in the job man and boy, as we have, what else can you do...
  20. Nope tractor and all kit sold, except saws , and a bag of climbing gear....
  21. Well I guess saps in the blood after all lol
  22. Well chaps I miss the contracting so much, I'm offering myself out for hire as a groundsman.. Folded my contracting operation 18 months ago , and now specialise in tree health care, this keeps me busy a couple of days a week, the rest of the time I'm free.. I have 20 years experience, I have all tickets, own saws and transport, 7.5 ton and towing driving licence. Can use most stump grinders safely, have chapter 8, aerial rescue tickets, can rig etc, and can run a crew on the ground no problem for those bigger or tricky jobs.. I'm self employed, and happy to travel 30 miles radius Ipswich. I don't charge the earth either.. Contact Lee 01473 461 367 P.S short notice isn't a problem either, oh and can still drag brash with the best of them lol
  23. I'd lay money there was at sometime a bracket on that trunk
  24. Now thats what I call a good job!!
  25. Thanks mate..
