  1. I used to work many many years ago for a tropical hardwood importer as a sawyer, I saw veneer made with a big table planer, the timber was walnut [yes I know not tropical], it comes out a bit of a mess, and has to be put together, the grain has to be closed up.....
  2. No not really the way I'm reading your post, BUT maybe I'm missing something, if I am I apologise. The industry is in a bad way especially the commercial and Local authority, we need to support the industry in this dire period in every way we can.
  3. Shouldn't we be supporting our industry instead of grinding it further into the ground.
  4. It all depends on the type of report, and don't forget a day in the field surveying isn't the end of it, the report/survey needs putting on paper, depending on how in-depth or how many trees, this can take from an hour to a week......
  5. I'm a Tanaka man myself these days, they're light, reliable and leave a reasonable finish
  6. I've got an operators licence, if I can do it anyone can, one thing I'd suggest is you get a VERY tight lorry, as they'll inspect it as soon as your licence comes through, I bought a brand new lorry and they found fault with it............
  7. Magnus you make some very good points
  8. Not being picky her chaps, but it seems to me a lot of what I'm reading on here [templates] seem to be some kind of Method Statemen/Risk Assesment hybrid, should a method statement be discussing H&S if it does whats the point of a Risk Assement?
  9. Good chap Rod, not sure about the filming, I'll find out...
  10. Wibblers a fellow angler and serving serviceman, needs our help. Below is his message taken from the fishing forum. Looks like a rather physical challenge in my book.... I am a serving British soldier in the Royal Corps of signals, and myself and 7 others are going to be doing a sponsered march (Yorkshire 3 peaks) on the 25th of september in aid of HELP FOR HEROES. We will be carrying full kit in excess of 50lbs on our backs plus a hefty weight in body armour of 25 miles of arduous conditions, so it aint gonna be easy. We are looking to raise as much as possible and have set a target of £2000 for this very worthy cause so that they can continue with their amazing work. If you would be extremely kind as to sponser us know matter how small or large even its just a QUid. Then please click on the link if it works or just copy and paste it to your address bar. sam wall is fundraising for Help for Heroes Plus if you woul like to see why help for heroes is such a good cause then click this link...... 11. I suppose you needed a bigger pad since you knocked up Becky, Dean? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exYVb-eJfyw]YouTube - becky mantin-pregnant and sexy.mpeg[/ame]
  12. The above quote sums up my thoughts on the matter too.............
  13. Best to tell firewood customers whatever they want to hear, can be a funny lot firewood buyers, they always think you're out to rip them off....
  14. We had one around here do the same thing, except this one never lived to tell the tale, bloke had a full time job, and just wanted the extra cash for his up-coming wedding.....
  15. Its grim up north, by the looks of it
  16. Vermeer 252 the best grinder I ever owned
  17. I'd suggest a root drench of freshly aerated compost tea, mulch the root zone and monitor the tree for the next few years...
  18. Schliesing all the way.......................
  19. nice one i'll remember that one............
  20. I had blokes who would refuse to clear it up, rightly so in a way......
  21. And either we join the Euro zone or the pound gets a lot stronger, until then they are a pipe dream for me.......
  22. On one job, we turned up masses of carp everywhere, I told her about it, she said no worries I'll clear it up, shegot the mower out and bare footedly mowed through the lot ''without'' the grass collector, it was just like watching a muck spreader in action! we cleared off..........
  23. On a heavy shite infestation, I'd knock on the door tell the customer, dog carp is a company H&S violation, heres my card call me when you've cleared every last bit up, but until then we're off to the next job, thanks for your cooperation, 9 times out of 10 the'yd clear it up and call me back
  24. I already said that chief I have owned two 150's the 200 is far better, you don't notice it chipping poles [or other Eastern Europeans lol] its when chipping nasty stuff like fruit and oak you notice the difference, constant snedding when using a 150 drove me mental, watching employees huff and puff, struggle and finally loose it drove me suicidal lol and all that jamming up in the roller housing you don't get that with a schleising
  25. I'd tip whatever chip is on the truck in the driveway, and leave the brash as it fell, I'd post a note through the door telling them that the '' jobs hard enough with out getting covered in dog shite, get some other mug in'' I passed on a job a few weeks ago strimming down weeds and grass, masses dog carp in various stages of decay, I can do without! what made me sick was shite was all over the kids trampoline.........
