  1. Whether his maths are correct in this instance, the facts still remain the area of 2x1' stumps is considerably less than one a 1x2' stump, anyone who prices per inch will get severely caught out, I did 17 years ago when I got my first grinder, I soon opted for an hourly rate.
  2. On the subject of Brighton, well done the Green Party.......
  3. congratulations Jonesie

  5. Well done mate, doing the training ie giving large amounts of cash and spending lots of time training is the easy bit, what they don't tell you at college or on training schemes is getting an arb career is a fairly hard nut to crack even when the economy is buoyant let alone in a slump as it is now. Again well done on the perseverance.......
  6. I used to pay for meals and digs [travel lodge] and a couple of pints in the bar

  11. You have your opinion I have mine, have you done much driving around west London lately Dave? it can take an hour to get 3 miles.........
  12. I'll tell you one thing if you charged the rates mentioned by the ''expert'' you wouldn't have kit like his.........
  13. Or maybe hard work paid for it! perhaps if more tree firms charged similar rates to this bloke, they'd have decent kit instead of the usual cr@p you see on the road
  14. Wasn't the job in London? London work requires London rates, as you say just getting from A-B in London is a job on its own, this job might of cost him half a day, he might of ended up out of pocket that day,the times I have been called out to a ''big'' tree in my garden, for it to be nothing more than an overgrown bush. I once charged a man £80+vat [min charge] for a fallen tree in his garden, one cut, 20 second drag to chipper, cheque please, job took less than 5 mins site time, do I regret taking his money, err nope!
  15. Because Green teeth are to heavy for little grinders, does the bearings in, in quick time...........
  16. if you're thinking about putting greens on the little grinder in your avatar forget it
  17. Tree men are some of the most inventive people you're ever likely to meet..

  20. YOU WORK FOR THE £60, I'll have the £180 thanks, you're too cheap, I'd hate to price up behind you, I bet other contractors, sigh like an elephant if they find out they are pricing against you
