  1. Core samplers, Resistographs are both obsolete these days, I sold my Resi 400 18 months ago, couldn't get any work for it, and I didn't feel happy using it after reading recent research papers...........
  2. Like I said I don't think its a big a problem as our American friends make! pot bound immature nursery stock and poor planting pits are a problem I'll agree, along with compaction.. I've ground out and air-spade excavated thousands of trees, I'm talking from experience.................
  3. Theres a big difference in pricing cheap, to get the job, then realising you should of let the competition have the poxy job, and quoting for example a job for 3 days for it to turn into a week, thats what I call a clanger!
  4. I agree go see Reg at Greens top bloke and company!!
  5. I've never been a real believer in all this root girdling business, like the previous poster says , I'd be looking for other problems
  6. Hahaha, and no doubt cheap at twice the price................
  7. Amen to that..............
  8. Ciao, our sympathies to the next salesperson you have to interrogate, before you can trust him and or the product, the quantity, the value for money, the size, the weight, the delivery time...........
  9. Sorry mate, I need to read posts properly, I got my wires crossed, please accept my apology......
  10. You need to see a doctor mate, you're a pain in the rear, you're the sort of customer that drives us insane!! do you understand now? you're buying a £50 load of logs not a house!!!
  11. I think this guy might not be so keen to rely on pics, he will need a DNA test certificate........
  12. Go see a doctor...........
  13. Mate, I've just had a read through your posts, you're what I call a messer a pain in the jacksy! you're buying a £50 load of logs, not a house! How do you make the bigger decisions in life, with a lot of greif I bet..........
  14. In time no doubt all logs will have a serial number, explaining wood type, where grown, who cut it complete traceability.......... I feel for you mate, you don't want to get ripped.............
  15. Bloody hell where do you live Dave? you must live in a different world to me, EVERYONE wants a written quote down here.......... Dean you mention lots of paper work for domestic work how comes? you want to see the amount of paperwork created working on building sites and LA work
  16. What no written quote ooops! I never do anything unless its written down and agreed with by the client..........
  17. Been through all that before, but won't ever again! bad luck mate..........
  18. looks like we are both loosing something in our posts, agreed shrinkable soils are a must............ Arborist wrote this ''I was told that heave would only happen if the tree was there before the house! is this right?'' you said pretty much yes.............which imo is incorrect
  19. Branching out this summer? NHBC offers advice to homeowners
  20. Wouldn't make any difference, building regs would stipulate footings to accommodate the subsidence potential........... As I have already said investigation pits and plasticity test, is the only way to be certain, those conifers would be first on my list of culprits........
  21. Incorrect, heave can happen any time, its only soil re-hydration around the footings........
  22. What about the large visible cracks left the summer dessication/soil drying out? Modern buildings ie house's built in the last 20 years are the only house built to with stand potential tree caused subsidence, all it means is the footing have been excavated deeper..........
  23. Yep I still have the list, I'll dig it out and see what it says about oaks
  24. If you check the NHBC guide to tree planting distances you will see, they [NHBC] think a tree that close could become a problem....... The only proper option is investigations pits, ie dig a series of holes close to the property and see if there are significant amounts of roots visible............ Oh and a proper soil plasticity test
