  1. Making money - At a job we enjoy.
  2. usually during a recession, council contracts get bigger as the government tries to balance the lack of private sector work with bigger public spending... Never seems to work though!
  3. I suspect its a santana, as Iveco supply engines for snatana. FWIW, I would have an Iveco powered landy over a ford transit powered one any day.
  4. The guy selling them is just down the road from me. They are superbly built, and the combustion design seems spot on. I would buy one quick though, as I think they are selling too cheap. With steel prices hitting £1000 a tonne, expect all this kind of kit to increase in price dramatically.
  5. I'll do anything for money, I'm not fussy
  6. I'm looking at the closest to £30 a tonne delivered. There is about 350 - 400 tonnes. How long i keeps once its sold is not my concern
  7. What he said:001_cool:
  8. The RFS has the NPTC's as prerequisit qualifications, and most RFS courses included them.
  9. I have decided to process up the timber I have at Cannock chase into firewood, as the woodchip buyers seem to all be havin a larf pricewise. Anybody interested in 400+ tonnes of premium birch roundwood? I will be putting the harvester to work on it next week, all going into 2 and 3 meter lengths.

Hello Pog, there is a serious collector from Sweden called Magnus,he pops in regularly and will definately have what you need.
  11. Lee - Looked at Roped access course costs recently? or HETAS / Corgi registration costs? or Citb plant tickets? They all seem rather expensive to me. I might have said this already, But I like the way the Forest Machine Operator certificates are handled - Provisional licence issued, enabeling the holder to work under supervision, a requirement to log training / instruction hours, and the need to complete the assesment before 6 months is up. This allows an employer to vet a potential operator without having to splash out on the certificate straight away.
  12. Got one sat here doing nothing. Mike, if your coming to Wales, pop in for a brew.

    haulage

Why a tipper? you really should look at getting it hauled in on an artic timber truck, or 8 wheeler if there are any left.
  14. One of the best, build quality second to none. West coast built. Heavy and thirsty. Thirsty due to upswinging rotor, never as good as a downswing. Which model? 2400 is good, the rest are to big to move around easily.
  15. He's the UK's very own Mike Poor...
  16. In that case you want a Jenz VARIOCUT system. Takes 2 hours to swap out the blades for swinging hammers... gives you the best of both worlds... I should get a cheque from Jenz for the endorsements - The downside is their so damn expensive, and the output is not particularly spectacular.
  17. There's a ****** link at the top of this thread.
  18. I used to run a WHO 12 foot tub with 860hp. Way to thirsty for my liking. Then had a bandit Beast with 375hp that would equal the Tubs output. Hard to beat the Coneheads diesel fuel / output ratio though.
  19. Tony, the walking floor is being used to edge the load tight up against the headboard. Then it will be used to unload it the other end. Walking floors are used primaraly for chip because a tipper that sizewould be heavy, and runs a high risk of falling over and wrecking the chassis. They also have the ability to walk the load out inside a low building. We are putting a conehead on a tracked D4 undercarriage. Go anywhere ability... The U2450 would be neat with a plant trailer for moving that between sites, but we also have a 14 tonne excavator and blade running alongside to feed the chipper. Conehead with feed deck - [ame] [/ame]
  20. I was 15 when I got the old FTC felling and maintanence course. Reckon its 16 now for an NPTC assesment.
  21. For the Record, we filled 3 artic chipliners (144 cubic yards) in 2 hours 45 minutes with a 565 Conehead running a 265hp cummins. Used 25 litres of fuel per load.... The advantage of a Jenz is the personalized build and the swiss watch build quality. Carl, the throat on that Jenz is 26" high by 40 inches wide. The MAN truck is probably running a 500hp+ engine. Probably looking at 1/2 a million Dollars for that rig complete. It is pretty cool huh?
  22. Looks like a pile of crap to me. 245hp for a 20 inch chipper? not nearly enough... This is a much better option... Probably cheaper too... [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=F1xJwulCJww[/ame]
  23. Brown cubicle rot will usually be Laetiporus sulphureus , or more rarely Fistulina hepatica, the beefsteak fungus that occurs commonly in oaks.
  24. VERY true. I have experienced this many times.
  25. Hmm. No new entries? Oh well here's a top bit of trance... [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nye1gn4S1BI[/ame]
