  1. Exactly Rob! If they did any lifting they would be covered by LOLER, right?
  2. They are very handy Rob, but dont forget they dont "lift" otherwise they would need to be LOLER'd:sneaky2:
  3. Interesting thread. I have a similar set up, tipper truck and land rover. Seemed to be the easiest answer, but not perfect. I too would be keen to hear if theres anything better, or even perfect solution.
  4. What he said As far as hiring out, i personally would be reluctant due to the usual abuse of hire tools and treat it as a long term investment. Buying a saw like that is a once in a lifetime purchase with that much use. Just my ten
  5. Very nice Dave, but it will corner much better if you fold the arm when you drive down the road:lol:
  6. Rob, i have just re read your comment and realised i mis interpreted your wording. I thought you were saying you did the bore cut, then cut your hinge, but i realise not now. My appologies fella.
  7. Are you sure you did it in that order? Think you need to go back to basics fella
  8. Would be a cheap helmet if it werent for the postage. Any chance you could send me one to one of your associate dealers to save the post?
  9. I thought of all the options, but in the end, because i banked the cheque the day after i delivered the logs i will leave it as it is. I supplied what i told him so i'm not refunding/discounting or whatever. He is going to go elsewhere anyway now whatever i do. My time is more valuable to me than spending it on someone who i will never hear from again.
  10. That is the difference Stevie, your boss didnt have the "alternatives" to hand. This guy usually does. He is trying to be some kind of ground breaker in technology and runs risks continuously trying to prove his originality. This tree did work out, but many of his "just watch this" type vids dont. Dont be taken in by this one vid. The few who have passed negative comment about this guys antics have probably seen more than this one fell of his.
  11. Was there a more text book way of doing the tree stevie?
  12. Ok, wasnt sure about saying about my day, but here you go. About the worst log related issue ive had; Previous tree customer rings me and asks how much my logs are. Told him £60/ bag delivered. He told me he had been using another local guy (who is renown for selling fresh split stuff) and said he preferred ash, so i explained the benifits of my logs, including time seasoned, how long since it was cut, rough sizes of the logs, size of the bag (0.72cu M) etc, etc. Spent 10 minutes or so on the phone with him. He said he would "give me a go" with a bag. I duely delivered a bag on tuesday night. He came out as i arrived and was there the whole time i was tipping the bag on the path, chatting away but never passed any comment on the logs. After tipping off he went in the house for his cheque book and wrote the cheque on the bonnet of my truck. then started barrowing his logs up the garden path as i was leaving. TODAY at 1.00pm he rings me in what i can only describe as a temper, saying my logs are really appauling quality and no where near the amount he got from the other guy. After 5 or 10 minutes if him ranting at me, and not giving me chance to say much, he said he "would leave it up to me, he didnt want to fall out with me but wanted to prove his point" i was about to blow my stack and he said, "if you dont believe me, come and have a look" At the moment im still fuming and dont know if i should ignore him, or go down there with a moisture meter and have it out with him, and even take the logs back.
  13. Oh, and yes i agree with the rest of you, he does have big nuts. Having big nuts does not make you intelligent though.
  14. You and I both know the guy is a nut case Fiddler. On this occasion he was lucky it all went good, but this guy will hurt someone one day when it all goes wrong. He prides himself on creating the most far fetched way of felling trees when there is a safer way. As fiddler says, very accute angle downward on the pull line for my liking, also what isnt mentioned is that its more than likely a skid loader doing the pulling:thumbdown: To answer, the guy is a nutcase, he got it down but was lucky yet again. It will go wrong one day, just hope its not someone else he mames
  15. Will try fella:thumbup1: Just out of curiosity, which september?
  16. Funny as! Get him to do a truck load at that speed! Lol!
  17. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/18724-northern-climbing-get-together-south-lakes.html
  18. So has this "get together to beat all other get togethers" been replaced with Kevs(STS) south lakes bash?
  19. How far will he travel Mick? Not for me as im sure it'll be too far for him, but just so others know.
  20. Had this one out a few weeks back (International 276) but my Dad managed to get it burried again! This one is next for a run out (a Mc 275), but has no battery so may be a week or two;
  21. Been having a bit of a play with the old stuff lately and giving some of them a run. Here's one or two ive used in the last few days (i didnt get chance to get the dust off before pics though:blushing:) Yesterdays forklift tractor, McCorrmick 250; The current caravan mover McCorrmick 414 in GREEN!;
  22. Ya sayin a big lad cant use one? I was getting tempted at buying one
  23. But why would you wanna take your climbing kit and saws to the beach anyhow?
