  1. I will accept that as a politicians answer:thumbdown:
  2. Why did you quote me and put a link to the product? I know what it looks like and have read all the marketing garb thats on the website, but are you willing to disclose whats in it, and also therefore justify the massivce price tag associated to the Aspen products in general?
  3. I wonder what others think to this practice as i always cringe when i hear a saw run dry, as its not only starving of fuel, but also oil? I have heard of this done before, but surely its not good to run a saw short of lube every time its used?
  4. You may find it very hard to get the answer to that, as i understand it, its a VERY closely guarded secret:sneaky2:
  5. Try the husky main dealers! I needed one for one once and i think it was around £15-20 complete unit with brake etc.
  6. I might be able to get Kev, depending on what date as we are going that way in the caravan in a month or so.
  7. I think mine could have been 1.2mm Billy, certainly no thicker. Remember galv tin is very heavy and even 2mm thick stuff will still dint if you throw a big log against it.
  8. Just replied to your PM then found this, so thought it was as well to paste onto here; Now then Billy, the tin i used is about 1mm if i recall. Obviously if you go too thin its not strong enough and thicker stuff is very heavy. Even the stuff i used will dint if you throw timber against it though, but i just let the lads know it wont stand big chunks hitting it hard and its been fine. The box section was 3mm for the 40mm square and 2.5mm for the 20mm square. Seems strong enough so far and doesnt add too much weight. Hope that helps. Why not stick some pics up on here of the job? Would be interesting to see your ideas. Cheers, Pete.
  9. "Northern climbing get together" rings a bell, i take it this will be after the one FRANK is organising:lol:
  10. Sorry to hear. Been there myself, unfortunately there are no words can make up for the massive loss of such a friend.
  11. Its getting more frowned upon around here, but as Iain says, some folk do get work from it. IMO, there are many other ways of getting work without flying, such as local press, local village mags, yellow pages, letters to parish councils, churches, even simply having a friendly word with the local maintenance/gardening and landscaper types. Flying is seen as a fly be night way of getting work around here. Please note, my origional comments are towards rogue traders, not travellers. There is a difference.
  12. Just the way it is around here now, the local councils are getting signs erected notifying cold calling and leaflet dropping is not permitted. They are supported by police and neighbourhood watch.
  13. Around us, you would be classed as a rogue trader for doing the leaflet drop
  14. Just a thought Andy, why not PM your wifes mobile number and I'll try and persuade her out of buying one:sneaky2:
  15. Strangely enough, yes! I think he needs a beating for that one:thumbup1:
  16. Having balding ginger hair and a goaty beard?
  17. You're doomed mate, no chance!
  18. Anything concrete yet like date or venue Frank?
  19. Oh, and the price review is not for being messed around, its due to a change in circumstances/workload:sneaky2:
  20. Dont use making enemies an excuse for not putting up the price, you are just as likely to be seen as the bad boy for coming in after the origional guys, or even for just being the evil tree cutter!
  21. Had similar, if they come back and ask if you can do the job let them know you are available but your circumstances have changed so you will need to re-quote:thumbup: You will be suprised, you will be able to put up your price, and they will still go for YOU!
  22. Why is it in short demand, and why have you not cut yours yet? Lots done and stacked away now around here. Just curious as theres been lots of decent hay making weather recently?
  23. As a "newbe" to firewood, i would say you need to set off to a good start. Not the way to build a good reutation IMO! Strange though, how at the beginning of the thread Baz praised the help, support and information he has received from this site, but at the same time is slating the very same people/profession in the web site. Very low:thumbdown:
  24. He should do well then if he's retained his better qulities:001_tt2:
