  1. Looks like we're going to be away that weekend now Kev, but if the weather is bad i may still be able to get. Not being critical, but your directions are a bit long winded. Is it possible to get there on sat nav from a postcode/address, or even put a link up on google maps? Just a thought fella:thumbup1:
  2. Looking good there Rupe:thumbup:
  3. Very nice rupe, you should be proud of that one. Do you still dread going and starting though?
  4. Thought that may get asked:blushing: I was towing a chipper behind a trailer. It took them an hour to find any documentation about it and eventually found a relevant part saying "one trailer should not tow another" however, there is not a specific offence they could do me for.
  5. I know this has slightly derailed into a vosa issue but Tom, take my situation; I had a "slight discretion" with what i was towing back last october and the result from vosa was "we cannot fine you as you have not committed an actual offence, but dont do it again as you will get done because you've had a warning" Since then (due to living within 2 miles of a main vosa testing station and base) i have been pulled countless times(in excess of 8) as my landy has been tagged. Now as it stands, whenever i drive past a vosa car(usually fittted with a numberplate recognition camera) I get pulled for a check. The irony of this is, out of the many times i have been pulled, i have never been done for a thing. Checked, dipped and tested for allsorts, but never done. they even missed the MOT had expired by a week once, but never noticed. Gettin tiresome now, even the guys on the pull over recognised me.
  6. Why wasnt it on your bonse, or were they that cheeky?
  7. Real sorry Johnny, is there any way they could know where you are from to give you a visit with the keys?
  8. So are there "new" 13mm ropes around then? Just interested but possibly too lazy to look for myself:sneaky2:
  9. So any of these benefits in 12.5 or 13mm rope or is that size old school too? Trouble i have is thinner rope for me is like trying to pull a train with dental floss, i just cant grip it!
  10. Are these all "girly hand" sized ropes (10-11mm) Darr? Just curious as i struggle to get my hands round an xtc! Are they better on the VT set up? Is there any big benefits in these newer ropes? I am interested fella.
  11. Blue 3 poly? Your old one fail LOLER fella or you just want a change?
  12. I get where you are coming from Andy, within its manufactured limits sounds more flexible than the route i was thinking of. Nice one.
  13. Did 700 miles in the landy in one week and never got pulled once. Must be a record:sneaky2: We were at the poor side of Scotland in East Lothian, not the wealthy side Stevie comes from:lol: Sure it would be worth asking the guys with yellow cars though, after all I dare say you will need to take it to them to be re-plated anyway. Is it your pick up you are asking about? Is it not 3500kg?
  14. Could try VOSA in Beverley Nige, they ought to know. Guess i could ask on your behalf soon as its over a month since i was pulled last, so must be due to be chaecked again:sneaky2:
  15. No worries Bob, I know what your point is about the HSE requirements for PUWER, but that does not cover a lifting tool. Are you saying a felling wedge is not used to lift or support weight? Perhaps we should ask for Hi "Lift" Wedges to be re-named?
  16. That was my whole point of the thread Dave:sneaky2:
  17. Therefore if the jack failed the wedge would be holding the weight of the tree. BUT, if in a typical situation when using wedges (fit for purpose) a wedge failed due to a defect/damage, what then? Surely Loler checks of this crutial piece of kit should apply?
  18. Why not spikes? Mine carry a BIG load:sneaky2:
  19. Gramoxone/paraquat is no longer available, but was not systemic, only contact therefore would not kill briars anyway.
  20. One for you boffs out there, as you would need a bottle jack to be Loler tested to assist the felling of a tree, what about wedges, they do lift weight and could possibly fail with serious consequences. So should they be tested? If not why not?
  21. That paragraph has just made my night:lol:
  22. Just did one like it about a month ago and recon its time to spray now the shoots have come up. This area was about 15m x 50m but was 3m high in brambles. Took about 3 hours to saw down. I used a clearing saw and smashed them down and will use a cocktail of Glyphosate and Grazon on the regeneration. Job should be a good 'un.
  23. Had the SH85 before this one, NEVER let me down but thought after 5 years i would treat myself so gave the old one to my dad. Might ask if he wants to swap:biggrin:
  24. Yeh cheers Ben, just being lazy really asking, but dont seem to have much in the way of time lately. Its the silly new push to stop then it resets jobby. Never had one of these newer types apart. Guess I'll have to find time:blushing:
  25. I've got a BG86 that only stops occasionally on the switch. Just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem and can lead me straight to it instead of me head scratching for two hours? Oh, and it will be out of warranty now:001_rolleyes:
