  1. My gloves arrived today thanks very much.
  2. I'm a strong believer in me Gran's old saying you get what you pay for, when I wanted a climber for one of my jobs I asked for personal recomendation, not ring round for the cheapest. I agree bad climbers can charge too much but I now know 4 good uns all from personal recommendations and all charge about the same. Non of them over charge fair days work for fair days pay.
  3. I've got the Oregon Extreme stuff its great, not sure what it would be like to climb in but on the ground its fab, not cheap though!
  4. I've never been Husky! I've been a die hard stihl user for years got 5 of em in the Landy. I just have to use a bloody Huskey at the agency!
  5. YEP! dead easy to flood and a sod to start after leaving! I hate my 357 and have asked my boss countless times to buy me a stihl!
  6. No not going there hate to think .....
  7. I'm not sad about it Lee, I've learn't over the years through being let down by various family members I have 2 friends that I know no matter what I ask they will be there doing all they can and I'd do the same for them. I work on the treat people how you wish to be treated. Andy - you've made the offer and theyknow where to find it, good luck!
  8. Hmmm, Its a hard one, IF it was my best friend, I'd go to the end of the earth to help them, but they are a bloody good friend and wouldn't want to see them or their kids suffer, They have also stood by me through hell and back. I don't belive in the blood thicker than water thing as there are certain members of my family I wouldn't lend a biro to! Good luck to you and your friend.
  9. I'd be intrested to see a video or pics of it on a 0.75 ton machine.
  10. Ed, Is that on an JCB 802? Whats the weight of the grinder head?
  11. Yes your right it is, But if like me you do forestry work but also fencing work that takes you more than 50k from base or you do tree surgery you need a tacho
  12. I'm lucky in that my mate is a tachograph engineer, So he'll be fitting mine, and taking care of the 2 & 6yr tests. Its only vehicles registered after 1/5/06 that require digital Tachos by law. Anything before that date can have an analouge tacho fitted.
  13. Ed its not just Mog's its even tractors and trailers used now. If you are not carrying out forestry work, and you use a mog or tractor and trailer it should run on white and either have a tacho or be on a hrs log book, (I'm not sure when you can get away with a book and not a tacho) Jim, your right tree surgeons can't claim forestry exemptions, and as I said earlier I belive if you claim a tacho exemption under forestry use, VOSA have a right to ask for proof of how much of your work is forestry. I'm in the throws of having a Tacho in the 130.
  14. Were not at cross purposes at all I work for the Agency, I know we run all kit as HGV's and use white derv, We don't use tacho's we use Log books. What I said I couldn't belive is that skilled men would sooner leave a job that go on a course paid for by the agency, that then gives them a driving licece for life! All the lads down here snapped there hands off as when the agency disappears down the swanny they have a bloody great safety net a HGV class 1 licence they must have been mad to turn it down
  15. I find that very hard to belive as in the Midlands the Agency have forked out thousands to train their tractor drivers to C+E licence requirements to drive tractors and trailers. I'm also not aware of any Agency vehicle having to use a Tachograph even the drivers of our grab wagons use Drivers HRS Log books. But yes you are right that the agency doesn't meet Forestry Exemptions and why would it?? Tree work is a tiny proportion of agency work these days. and neither does a jobbing tree surgeon. If your claiming forestry exemption I belive VOSA can ask for proof of how much of your work is actually forestry.
  16. Looks like it would be even more drafty than a Land Rover too!
  17. Where is it mate? that looks like a brook or stream in the back ground?
  18. Nah I'm happy with what I've got, anything bigger needed will be a move away from LR but until then it suits are needs just fine.
  19. Is there provision for a PTO off the gearbox on that?
  20. Yep I can remember the Iveco in Ed's yard and Jimbo making the back body for it. Haven't seen George Walkers with it in a long time though, wonder where it is now?
  21. Yeah Exactly Trucks!! None of the above make a 3.5ton gross 4x4! so for my business they'd all be a waste of space. If I was after a wagon then Volvo would probably win hands down but I don't want a truck1
  22. Comes highly recommended I've found 3 of my jobs there.
  23. very nice! heated handles are great!
  24. Yeah one of the burners is in situ. I'm going in Friday with the landy again so will get some picks then, That was Nick, runs one of the local firms is a mate of Stu's.
  25. Who was the local dealer mate? I 'd say buy from them they will be more sympathetic if warranty work is needed. Did you get you 200T sorted out?
