  1. The link I posted yesterday is a pic of a Land Rover 300TDI Engine. Its exactly the same as mine. Its winter here at the moment and even though its Sunday I've been out working all day and didn't get in till dark. If I remember I'll try and take some pics while on site during the day, were just really busy at the moment
  2. Some one can probably explain it better but this is the rough concept! Can't remember all the percentages of timber etc but some one will inform us. I hope the rough sketch attaches ok.
  3. Cheers Mate, had it in the woods yesterday moving Stuarts charcoal kilns, really mad I forgotthe camera!
  4. Easy! most are taxed as Agricultural vehicles. If you look at Construction and Use Regs for Agricultural vehicles you can get away with most things. All the Agri Contractors round here Run with bloody great seed hopers on Front linkage for their drills. Its all perfectly legal! If its only on the road during daylight hrs it doesn't even require any lights!

    is it worth it?

Book price is £728.50, BUT the book price of your 341 is £587.50 and you've been quoted a healthy discount on that so you should get a good price on a 441

Well i would definately have a 441, I had used the older 440 for many years it was a great saw. to be honest if I had the dosh I'd have a 441 and my biggish saw so I could leave my 660 safely in its box in the workshop!

I've never had a 341, I want something of this size though and would probably go for it. I have used a 357 for 18 months and hate the thing with a passion.

    Lazy.

i do it all the time with landy winch!
  9. ER! YEAH! I know that LOL! I ain't the one calling em pics!:D
  10. Not My engine but here is a pick of a 300TDI http://www.reedx.net/landrover/maint/manifold/manifold2.jpg I will take pic of mine but once again I'm just in from work and its dark!
  11. Seems we are in a different situation here, Most of our councils are owned and hire is split around loads of companies as they are all fairly unreliable. Think we will just buy our own again as when the oppertunity comes along!
  12. Lol! So have I mate courtesey of Shrops CC and the EA!
  13. Bob, Do you hire from a local or National firm? We've been having lots of problems just lately with downtime on hired in plant from a very large national hire firm
  14. not round here they arn't! we were looking at over 2 hundred quid for one job in hire charges! Changing tack slightly are we all ticketed for traffic management?
  15. Not exactly, we had two jobs 18 months ago reguireing lights, we got a set off Ebay for 150 notes, used them twice tarted em up back on ebay and doubled our money! Now wish we'd never sold them but if another set comes along we'll buy em
  16. yep certainly thogh its only a standard 300 TDI, I'll sort it at weekend, probably be to dark tonight.
  17. First was Crowded House Recurring Dream in 1996, Last was last Thursday and the CD from Steve Steinmans Vampire Rock show. Oh and there have been about 600 Cd's bought between those 2!
  18. I used fixed. They are cheaper, and to me they have the advantage of not blowing about like the fold up ones. Roll up ones require sand bagging to stop them blowing over as a wagon goes by, I suppose my rigid ones take up slightly more room on my truck but I can live with that!

    you'll have a pm soon,
  20. I hear what you are saying and don't doubt you are very good at what you do, but if I was advertising for a climber to join my business and took you on I know my Insaurance company wouldn't like it one bit! So I'd pick someone else. If you work for yourself and your insaurance company are happy then I don't see why its worth doing the tickets.
  21. You have the right to a second oppinion! I'm neddlephobic so I can understand your fear of needles!

Or you work for a certain government body where H&S is way way way way way over the top!
  23. I've got a 660, main reason was because all my other saws are stihls. never had any bother with it either
  24. I know not much about climbing but I do know that my insaurance company require me to hold certificates of competence. If I had an accident for arguments case climbing I'm sure my insaurance company would run off with their cheque book PDQ!
  25. Thanks for the replies folks. I asked for several reasons but one being I was on site when a serious non arb related accident happened a few years ago it was a County Council job. A land rover rolled on a track accessing a tricky site well off the beaten track. Th gang had no emergency plan this was a remote part of the country we ended up using my mobile the only one with a signal to get help. I had to read the grid ref off an OS map while trying to give fiirst aid. Since that day I've made it my business to have my own emergency plan so that I know I get help, even though now I'm long gone from the above scenario/organisation. In all honesty in every job since I've had good EP's from employers. I do EP's for my own business and i have a big first aid kit that apart from the normal stuff has survival bags and foil blankets in to keep the casualty as warm and dry as possible. I need to do the refresher next feb for my 4 day ticket but I also want to update the serious injuries course because its many years since I did it. Vdub from what you've said mate I doubt there was much else you could do.
