    Job from hell !

At least Timber looks like hes enjoying himself!
  3. Wish I had a crane like that. Oh wait, I have!
  4. Nasty nasty, hope you have a swift recovery and get footlocking again soon mate!
  5. 2 cubes ish? My trucks going up for sale shortly, although I do already have an interested party...
  6. You maniac!
  7. You can get a lot of kit in the back, I meant to put a shelf or something in there, but have never bothered, so with a bit of organisation you could have a really decent storage space.
  8. Well, my rigging and climbing kit probably weigh in at around the 100kg mark, plus three saws, spare wheel, assorted axes, mauls, sledgehammers, shovels, rakes and brushes. Hate to think what me and the dog weigh.....
  9. My old shape transit crewcab tipper with ply sides and all my gear and driver in weighs 2600kg. I do carry a lot of gear though, so I dare say you could shave that down a bit.
  10. Sweet, want to do mine?!
  11. Eds crane was pink!
  12. How would that help?
  13. I really enjoy rigging on the ground. Swinging big bits around, dropping them like a stone, stubbing off big chunks and shaking the climber off his perch etc. No-one wants me to stay on the ground though. I have a portawrap, I'v showed numerous groundies how to use it, its got plenty of wear showing, but I'v never lowered a single branch on it myself!
  14. I find it a lot harder to lower smoothly on the winch, the bollard is much better for letting the piece run. Or maybe im just rubbish at lowering.
  15. estate car version of hilux. look on autotrader or ebay, there are normally a few knocking about.
  16. The gaps shouldnt matter, because the discs are staggered and cut across the bed knife at an angle, therefore however small the knives get (up to the wear limits) there will in practice be no portion of the cutting area not covered by a disc. Cant really think of a better way of explaining it, its a very visual thing!
  17. Natural fracture, retrenchment techniques, I like it!
  18. What make is the crane?
  19. Wild stab in the dark, a bit like your hand and the loppers, dawn redwood?
  20. I ring the planning department of the council, I know who in the office does tpo checks and which days they work. I dont always tell the client, I give them the price and just check it anyway, then if it is tpo'd I can go back to them, if it isnt then I havent worried them unnecessarily. The problem is that people dont understand the implications of a tpo, they think it will be a slap on the wrists and they'll get away with it. Sad thing is, with many LAs being overstretched and understaffed, they are probably right.
  21. Dont know what it is but you missed a bit at the top!
  22. If in doubt, check it. A quick phone call now, that could save you a big fine later. Also be wary of clients who tell you they have checked already, always worth double checking in case someone tries to pull the wool over your eyes. Doubly applicable with builders/ developers.
  23. Its just as well they are all non-lethal then. If you were in South Africa, where they know a thing or two about booby traps, you would probably have burnt your own ankles off by now!
  24. Dean, have you ever set a booby trap that hasnt caught you out?!
  25. Yes, he does seem to be an awful long way from any trees!
