Every hollow tree is different. Dont remove buttresses. Pick the direction of fell to make best advantage of the remaining sound wood, ie place the hinge in the area with most sound wood. Use a very shallow sink.

Are you buying new or secondhand? Secondhand, I would look for a cabstar with the 3 litre turbo engine, lightweight and pulls like a train, only major downside is the tiny cab. I think they made them around 2004-2005. Canters are nice trucks, but heavy and thirsty, as they are really 7.5 tonners in 3.5 tonne disguise.

Ha! I crashed my Dad's astra twice in identical circumstances in the space of 9 months...... Straightened it out each time and it ran for years afterwards.

I have moved conifers of that size, the single most important thing is the aftercare. I always put a coil of perforated pipe in the new planting hole, underneath the rootball, so that when you water it the water doesnt just sit on the surface. The rootball is likely to be pretty heavy, have you got machinery for moving it? When next year are you doing the moving? With regard to staking, I have always guyed, but your client may not want visible support, in which case you'll need to look at some sort of rootball strapping system.

Do be careful with using new rope and new hitch cord at the same time, the coatings on the ropes can make it super slick. If possible try to use broken in hitch cord on a new rope, or if you have to use both new then use an extra wrap or so until its worn it a bit. Other than that, 8mm cord tends to work very nicely with 11mm rope.

If you like the treemagic you'll probably like the sequoia. They are both minimal and lightweight. The big plus for the sequioa for me is the srt attachment, as it is great for footlocking and srt, and there is no buckle on the front to dig in to you. On the minus side there is no quick release on the waist belt. Of course if thats an issue buy the non srt version. The sequioa has plenty of adjustment options, so chances are you can set it up to be similar to the TMagic. I dont think either of them will last very long in daily use though.

Yes, you can get one that sends a text message straight to your mobile. It is quite expensive to buy, but there is no annual subscription as there is no continuing "service". Cant remember who makes or sells them though.
