  1. Say a large rope access company in Europe requires a certain type of rope for say a specialist access job, such a rope may not be available with the relevant Compliance within Europe, what would stop them from importing the required rope from outside Europe? I'll expect some head shaking, hand wringing and some slagging but no creditable argument.
  2. ART for sure if you can afford it, the Cinch is a cheaper alternative that works well.
  3. Why can't you import and then use them yourself?
  4. So! We can't all be magic can we!?
  5. Nope, saw on the right, Cinch on the left, Snap from left to right every time. Click, check, work, unclip. -robot-
  6. Yes, it's a very good device for lanyards though you probably won't need to use the handle and, if like me you wear it on the left, it'll be upside down. Oh and apparently they've stopped making them. Expect something new to come along in a short while.
  7. Useful stuff from Samson. Samson Home
  8. Yeah, I'll do it. PM me.
  9. Dragon has that facility.
  10. I just clip to the bridge ring as well.
  11. Nothing on Comodo or Sophos?
  12. Free Internet Security 2013 from Comodo | Complete Virus Protection
  13. Ah, I remember getting a proper slagging by some top Arb guy for the pictures I posted of that Ash removal. Nothing new there.
  14. Marlow are now providing a smaller, neater stitched eye on some of their climbing ropes.
  15. I had a few splices broken double braid and 16 strand after a very kind offer from somebody in the industry. I broke them for peace of mind really but CE certification for hand splicing is obtainable. I have never broken a splice in day to day tree work, although I'm sure I could if I tried:)
  16. I just had a Hand Spliced 16 strand broke at 2.98t. So be careful climbing on that;)
  17. Yes I think your right that its Yale. It is a 16strand rope so do a 16 strand splice. Cover strand removal is slightly different from the Marlow I think.
  18. Do you have a picture? Edit: 16 strand splice if its the Patriot climbing line. I can splice it for you, I am based SW. PM if you want.
  19. Hello, whipping is an extra precaution to prevent the splice being pulled out, this is probably not necessary on the smaller diameter climbing lines but is a real possibility on larger diameter ropes. Whipping close to the eye on the small diameter lines is very difficult so it's easier to whip further down the rope. Low repeated loads can easily pull out a splice on un whipped loose woven braids or indeed loose 16 strands such as New England safety blue. Anyway, that's my take on it. But you probably know all that anyway.
  20. Yeah I have one still.
  21. I remember some years back that there was a problem with a batch of NEW ISC Mongoose carabiners.
  22. No,the same one as JR Hartley.
  23. I think I rolled the same chipper.
  24. Funny, I tend to agree with you Tim. Actually I know somebody who has worn one during the development/ testing phase, said its an extremely comfortable harness and very light.
