  1. Hmmmm wet day everybody?
  2. The trees are getting their leaves on, bigger sail area than in January
  3. Guessing Light Agricuultural?
  4. Oschenkopf or Gransfors double bit throwing axe? I just cannot decide, there's not much difference in price. I like the look of the Oxhead, but I also like the individuality of the Gransfors Help!!!
  5. Beat me to it Huck
  6. I have used a chainsaw on my own, yes, its called lone working. I don't like it, I'm a believer in working in a team. It doesn't matter how often you call in if on your own, it's still too long before the next call if you cut yourself. So I don't think it's ideal, I don't think it's a safe option, and I certainly wouldn't advocate it. Likewise, you should have a healthy respect for any equipment you do use, and be trained in it's safe use. Also know how to react in the event of something not quite going to plan.
  7. Because as I posted here, very few actually meet your criteria for Prime Minister, thats all. Tbh it actually surprised me that you don't require any qualifications whatsoever to be a Prime Minister of this country, you just have to be able to convince as many as possible that your the best for the job.
  8. I mean, Gordon Brown was editor of programming at Scottish Television, hardly a qualification to be Chancellor of the Exchequer, let alone Prime Minister now is it, and look where we ended up, the worst economic crisis for decades. Tony Blair was a no-mark barrister. David Cameron studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics before serving under Norman Lamont. Not many qualified there is there.
  9. Just out of interest.... I wonder what qualifications you actually need to run a country. I mean, there isn't a DipPM, or a Doctorate in Prime Ministership, you can't apply through your local Job Centre Plus. Wanted one person, suit male/female, must be able to run a small country on a Budget. House and car provided, along with meal ticket. Suit family person, must be willing to travel occasionally.
  10. That is bordering on obscene, I love it
  11. First saw I ever used was an old Pioneer 1200automatic. Now it wasn't 1200cc, it's certainly wasnt automatic, what it was however was a loud brute that could burn down dead elms quicker than it could cut them (no spark arrestors) this was back in the late 70s, and it looked like an old saw then. PPE consisted of wellies, donkey jacket, and a homemade bobble hat to keep out the cold. Big awkward pieces were cut into blocks for the large inglenook at the pub, and exchanged for beers that I was too young to drink then, and loads of logs were delivered in a horse trailer towed by our Landie series 2 station wagon with Safari roof. Dad also delivered rabbit dressed and quartered and wrapped for the price of a pint (he liked his beer!) to the local pub, seemed he had a never ending supply of beers then! Funny thing is I never recall any money changing hands for logs, just beers, and if I dared to ask where my share was well "you get fed don't ya?" was the reply. Didnt seem fair somehow. Kids today, they don't know they're born!
  12. Don't forget, threads like these are posted to stir up feelings and dissent amongst members, to fracture the community, of course we have free speech, and so far this thread hasn't breached any forum rules, but IMO such claims about Hitler border upon indecency and have no place in civilised society.
  13. War veterans have sold off there medals since time immemorial. Crimean veterans sold theirs, Boer vets theirs, and so on. It's almost taken as read that there was a value to them and it was like a payment for the dedication of their service. So Daily Mail, and your readers, there is nothing new under the sun.
  14. Sell from just inside your gate, it's the Highways Act that carries the most clout, obstruction of a highway, so don't obstruct it. And don't forget Highways own the first metre of road side verge too.you should have a trader licence, but if you are just selling a little surplus occasionally many councils overlook this, ie veg from allotments, jars of homemade jams, nets of logs (?) just don't look like your commercial doing it I suppose.
  15. Seems strange to me that a representative of one of the most persecuted groups in Europe would choose to support one of the worlds greatest persecutors so vocally. Thankfully many great men died to give us the freedom to express an opinion so publicly.
  16. Wet day and no smoking getting to you?
  17. I for one would like to welcome all to advise, much as everyone else is able to without too much difficulty. Why is it that 2 saw doctors can't help others out without having a dig at each other, it's not like you're even treading on each others toes in the real world. I'd like to see you both just shake hands (as much as you can online) put your differences behind you and continue to help others. thanks once again.
  18. Ok the YouTube video was already placed into the public domain, the faller has had ample opportunity to remove it from you tube. If you drive down the road, take a picture of a badly pruned tree to slate another, then that will cause friction onsite, maybe leading to threats of defamation, libel, whatever against the poster and the forum, which we don't want. that's why we have rules. And it's Steves site and he says so alright?!?!?!?!
  19. Really Lee? Gee thanks
  20. Revisionist? Trying to re-write history is surely denial?
  21. Why not? If they are of criminal intent, terrorist activities or whatever, they should be removed from society. You made a reference to Hitler earlier, and IIRC you have always supported this ideal, only to include more parties, but then of course as a Denier, you'll probably deny that anyway
  22. Is the tree in a conservation area, or TPOd? If so speak to local Tree Officer first. HC will pollard ok, it can also rot back quickly on major wounds, which may lead to the regrowth forming on rotting branches over the next few years. I would lean towards a staged reduction, similar to that suggested by Alex.
  23. Doesn't take a genius to make a profile of anyone. All your movements are known, all your communications are available, you can make a fair guess on a character just by reading a couple of post on forums such as this. If you're doing nothing wrong then what does it matter? They can read what they like into what I say, they can follow me all week if they wish and they can tap my phones, Im that boring they'd soon go and listen to someone else. The only people who need to fear the monitoring, are the criminal element, those who wish to harm others, or those whose activities are intended to rob others, surely this is a good thing, not the evil that you portray. It's our Free Press that needs to be feared more!
  24. If the client doesn't know what they want then you need to guide them, not push, just gently guide them in the direction required. You are the professional, they are the client, they want you around for your advice, at times they will not like it, at times you will be the best thing since sliced bread. I was walking around a clients grounds end of last autumn, saw an ash with Perenniporia fraxinea in quite an advanced state. So I advise the client that it is either removed or cordoned off to prevent harm to children and animals in the park. The cordoning off option was taken, the tree fell over during the winter. My judgement fully vindicated and client thanked me for pointing this out, even though it was beyond my brief that day. Don't be afraid to speak out, how would you feel if you didn't and injury/death followed?
