  1. Bit wet out, cant be bothered to trek across the county to trim a conny hedge in the pouring rain:001_rolleyes:
  2. People, please dont duplicate the spam by quoting it in subsequent posts, it just compounds the problem and makes more work. Please do continue to report spam to the Admin so we can remove ASAP. Thanks.
  3. Mowing done, cleaned mower and greased up and checked belts, then serviced the Jo Beau ready for the season. Then cut my own grass and strimmed around the place. Get gear all ready for tomorrow now, and have a cuppa tea
  4. I think my size might have altered a couple of times since this poll started
  5. Nice video that, like it
  6. Just read that article Steph
  7. The one in your avatar? Bet it doesnt tak long to get around!!
  8. Just picking up on Rupes point, this is a very small industry, with limited opportunities for people. Work is hard to find for many, labour is dispensable. If you mess with your employer youre not only reducing your chance of employment with him, but with everyone he knows in the trade. Now lets assume you take the legal route, take him to court for unfair dismissal, all you would achieve is reducing your future employment further. This may not be legal or above board, or even advisable, but it is fact. Whats going to annoy your employer further may be the fact that he requires you to work the occasional Saturdays, but you cant because you have your own jobs on. Who should come first, the man who puts food on your table, pays your bolls week in week out maybe? Think long and hard about what sort of employee you are going to be, if you want to go s/employed, then do it 100%, then your employer knows that you are likely to work anywhere for a price, whether for him or yourself, or even his direct competition, but at least he knows.
  9. Been out maintenance-mowing around trees i planted up about 3 years ago, about an acre. Now gonna service the Jo-Beau ready for this seasons onslaught, as bad health meant it just got pushed in the shed and left.
  10. I dont think theres a lot of hope for you now Tommy, to get banned from a site full of desperate saddos shows even theyre nowhere near as desperate or sad as yourself (for Predator, this is banter ) though i dont recommend sending them a vid!!
  11. Hi predator, ive just been through numerous of todays posts and struggling to find what you mean. There does tend to be some banter between people as they become familiar with each others ways, hopefully this helps to make the forum a vibrant and lively place the people wish to attend.
  12. IIRC the one i saw was a steel roller with a couple of angle iron bars welded along the length, so it rolled crushed and cut all in one motion. Sure i had a picure somewhere but cant find it now. Specialist company!! http://www.brackenbruiser.co.uk/
  13. Tell that to the victims of 7/7, 9/11 and all the terrorist strikes carried out by the IRA! I for one find this opinion offensive, and to think that you were once supposed to be protecting this country in the guise of our Armed Forces. I find your attitude bordering on treason.
  14. Iphone have an OS maps app for the entire UK, broken up into regions, not internet dependent, at £11.99
  15. Ive seen one similar to that idea for horse loggers, wouldnt be hard to tow behind a quad
  16. I am working on improving my shadow
  17. Definitely stirring in this instance Tony. Though our opinions may be "poles" apart
  18. Arbtalk, a truly international forum
  19. Sorry for the derail Stereo, I should know better in this instance, leaving the tree be is the right thing to do, I was just being Devils advocate, and stirring the pot a little, though I do stand by my opinions perhaps this wasn't the thread to be quite so vocal.
  20. Anyone applying please read the ad, if you want the work, you do the leg work, why would they chase after you? You Pm them as said above.
  21. Enjoyable to look at?????? Beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder! As I've said elsewhere, if we were to go around refusing to remove ivy, not cutting the deadwood, or leaving dead trees standing everywhere we would soon be out of a job. I do concur that there is a need for habitats to be left but not every where and not every tree. We need to get down the dead and dying, get replanting to replace stock for future generations to enjoy, if not our current veterans will die out with nothing coming on behind. The gap now between veterans and new stock is vast, the old guard will be falling apart with nothing semi mature to follow on.
  22. I think Rupes about right, there is a cross over point. I think many in forestry and woodland management could make the transition to Arb quite easily, but few in Arb could make the transition the other way. The reason, many arbs are just too precious, too shiny shiny, and don't want to hurt the trees....man (I've actually heard this from an Arb once!!) Trees are a commodity for man to earn a living from, however we dress it up, and if we are to survive as an industry we have to see this, otherwise we'll all become volunteers, doing it for nowt.
  23. It's all about earning Tony
  24. Fell it, it's cluttering the view up with all those dead branches and stuff anyway. It amazes me that any tree work ever gets done these days, save the ivy, save the deadwood, leave a monolith, this is the mainstay of work in this trade!!you are talking yourselves out of work!! or is that it? You don't actually want to work, you want to talk about them all day and not actually do anything? Fine if you're LA and getting paid to do nothing, but in the private sector, we actually have to do something to earn our money, strangely, people actually like to see something done for their money! Shock horror!!
  25. Going to have to treat myself to a little something soon, feel like I'm missing out!! Just need to earn some money first
