  1. This is a very very valid point, and one reason I left the thread. In some places it is at least a discplinary for failing to look after the H&S of your colleagues, and I know of an ongoing case right now where this has happened.
  2. Congratulations on this achievement Yve,
  3. I had the Kelly out on a job last week, first time this year for me reminds me I must collect a few more pine cones, excellent fuel
  4. I quite understand, I have duly removed the photo, but left the thread. Not trying to be officious as I know where you were trying to come from, and believe it was with good intentions. But we do have that rule for good reasons. All the best. As you were chaps
  5. We could go one step further if we are sticking to rules. Arbtalk has a rule that states: 14. Posting pictures of other peoples work with the intent to discredit(even if just to show examples of poor tree work), is not permitted at arbtalk. You agreed to abide by these rules when you signed up to the forum.
  6. Just a further addendum, Teds ELH has had great reviews from various members. I'm merely posting my finds on an alternative, which hopefully gives others something else to consider. I'm looking forward to seeing what price the ELH can be done for in the future.
  7. Tbh, I didnt find an issue with the hoop not holding the trimmer dead centre, if I needed extra reach I simply adjusted the adjustable strop, that's probably why it's adjustable. What I do know is that it spread the weight evenly, it balanced the trimmer well and I was far more comfortable and relaxed using it than I would have been without it. For £70 it did the job I expected, it took the strain from my shoulders, back and most importantly my abdomen. It's not an ELH, it's a Stihl, it's well built, well thought out, and it does what it says on the tin, that's all I expect from a product.
  8. Ok, I'm not going to embellish this. When a thread roused attention, it is not usually because of who the OP is, it is usually the TOPIC, not the OP that decides it's fate. I try to ignore who is posting, but take it on the value of the content. This way I try to moderate in a fair and unbiased manner. If the thread goes the wrong way, it is dealt with in a manner of ways, deletion is rarely used. On this particular occasion, two different mods dealt with the thread simultaneously, without discussion, in the best interests of the forum, not in order to upset the OP or anyone else, but to keep things on a even keel. When members sign up to the forum, they agree to a set of rules, if they don't wish to follow them, then there are plenty of other forums they can choose to frequent.
  9. Ted, this in no way reflects on your product, and is not my intention. For me, to even consider using an aid such as this Stihl one, or even yours, is a major step. As I said, it is only due to health reasons I even considered it. The outstanding quality of both harnesses is worth the money alone. But to me this is a temporary fix I expect, and if I find that I use it repeatedly over the next say 2 years, I may well consider the ELH, but for now, as a temporary fix, £70 is good Mick, I'm sure you won't regret buying this product, I can feel it's benefits straight away. I like it, as I said, not something I would have ever seen myself buying a while back.
  10. I'm not 100% on this, but surely if any pics are put in the public domain, are they not the able to be used by anyone? Surely the only way to protect them is with a sort of watermark type thing over them? Still, not condoning this persons actions, and it would lead me to doubt the credibility of his business if he is taking pics from elsewhere as his own to promote his business. Of course, he may be buying timber in to meet his orders, and be otherwise quite legitimate.
  11. Not a proper brekkie, where's the black pudd???
  12. Stihl RTS Super Harness for long reach hedge trimmers | F R Jones and Son well after years of working without a harness to use long pole tools, given recent health issues I have caved in and bought one. Yesterday I was working on a large long yew hedge and it was invaluable. Perfect control of the long reach trimmer, perfect balance meaning no tiredness as the day wears on...an on...and on. Though I can see the obvious advantages of Teds Easy Lift Harness, I couldn't justify in my little brain the considerable expense, the Stihl fills the gap for me nicely at around the £70 mark. It was really good yesterday to have done a big days hedging and not have the usual aches and pains from it. Oh and not forgetting the superb service once again from Justin and his gang at FR Jones
  13. All the best I hope you make a speedy recovery, shame the trews and boots got trashed too.
  14. You townies must be soft Lee, don't need the heating on yet, last night was still warm, and the towns are always a degree or so warmer than the rural places. Suns out again this am, maybe a shower about as the temperature rises to 16deg.
  15. I was just trying to clear up exactly What youre needs were, so other readers would understand better, more information the better. Glad your sorted
  16. Must admit, I am partial to Yorkshire tea too just don't tell any of the Yorkies that.
  17. Yorkshire tea, like the county, cold and wet
  18. Bright and sunny here, lovely to sit out and eat a sandwich and a mug of tea out of the Kelly at lunch, catching the last rays of the summer while we can. May get a light shower tomorrow around 2.16pm til 2.16.47 if we're really unlucky. Best job in the world sometimes, it really is. If Carlsberg made a county, it would probably be Suffolk
  19. I've been a member for several years now, personally I've asked nothing of them, but I know of contractors who they have helped out. It's a no frills association, it does what it says on the tin so's to speak, run by people who do the job too. I'll be renewing next year.
  20. Managed to get heating oil for free??? Yeah that happens to me all the time
  21. If that's gods county, he can keep it
  22. Had an hour or so worth of rain, a little hard, probably no more than quarter of an inch, dry now. We were only to cop the edge as the storm went up north. Gotta love East Anglia
  23. What they all said nice one Rob, and thanks for your continued support
  24. Oh I didn't read about the saws, that would make a huge difference to day rate. If you're s/e and subbing around, you do need at least a climbing saw.
  25. Hi Axel, and thanks once again for answering a few questions here. My misunderstanding of AAOC stems from the fact that the name was used in the 1800-late 20th century, and was absorbed by the Exxon group Our history in Europe Unfortunate yet understandable coincidence.
