  1. So taking this example of saving every soul who has every illness, and delaying death for as long as possible.... Who is going to support the even larger population that this would create? I should like to say that I'm all for medical intervention to save life where possible...I really should.. As I benefitted most from it, but tbh natural selection should take the sick, weak and the elderly, it's the circle of life.
  2. That top pic would make an ace avatar for you WoodEd
  3. Hadn't even thought of that angle, good post.
  4. A few drinks at the end of the day is fine, so long as it's not in your system the following day for work, or you drive home and get pulled for DUI, which would then mean you can't drive works vehicles. Easier to have a zero tolerance across the board IMO.
  5. As Mark said. Practise practise practise is the only way. Normandy, you're either getting rope burns because you're not letting go quickly enough, or you've allowed knots to form in the line. It's either abut the ti ing of the letting go, or the stowage of line. Make sure you remove all debris from the line before storage, and "flake" it into your container. You don't need to spend a fortune on a stowage container, Jo Hedger used to use Sweet containers! I use boillie bags for fishing bait personally, sourced at discount fishing stores. Good line and the right weight bags for the job, and have a variety of weights to suit. Preferably have two kits as inevitably one will get stuck at times.
  6. Back to Pauls point on management level and recreational drugs. IMO no one in the company structure should be working under the influence of drink or drugs. If it stays in your system for so many hours after, then allow this time to clear the system, if you have a tinny on the way home, don't have so much that it's still in your system tomorrow. If it's drugs, then same applies. Zero tolerance is the only clear way to deal though, it's fair to all. MEDICATIONS: same rules apply, but notify your employers and management of your needs, and limitations. You may be required to carry out different duties rather than climb or operate certain machinery, not easy I know.
  7. 30feet? Hmmmm ....how about throwing it?
  8. I think as a race we would know if we were hit by a major flu virus, such as the Sapnish Flu epidemic, as it would decimate the population. The viruses we get are tame in comparison. I believe that taking some of these meds unnecessarily just weakens the immune system, and therefore weakens our ability to stave off illness.
  9. I do qualify for the free one, but tbh I don't see the point. I can't recall the lSt time I had proper flu, and there's no jab against man flu any way.
  10. Seeing as those who qualify for free jabs are either elderly or infirm, they're once again peeing into the wind then:biggrin: no change there.
  11. "Teufelberger....Together in Motion" does that mean we're all in the poo together?
  12. And in a way, that's stupid. Not Huck, but all of us with this mindset. While suffering a debilitating illness, I ended up on the benefits system this year, through financilal necessity, once all my money was gone, and my overdraft. All the rainy day money was gone, the lot. The "system" picked up the tab. On the 29th April this year I told them to stick their benefits, I wanted to return to work (too soon as it happened). The benefits people couldn't believe that I wanted to cease claiming, they tried everything to keep me in the system. They even asked why I didn't want my bills paid for by them? Was I mad? No I was stupid and stubborn, stubborn pride got in e way of logical common sense. Something for nothing? Oh no thank you very much, even though I'm very poorly I want to work for my money. Idiot!!!!I could still be soaking up funds to this day if I'd played the system their way, no hassles, no worries, no taxes to pay, heating and everything else paid for, no stress chasing work and paying bills. Who was I trying to kid? If my lads were still young, they would have been the ones to suffer, no real money coming in to give them what they needed. How selfish of me!! Would I do the same in the future? Of course I will, it's how were made up, it's how were driven. But it's also very stupid to not take something for nothing.
  13. Most people I know who qualify for the free jab don't bother any more, the chance of getting full blown flu is pretty remote, compared to the effects of the jab making them feel so rough for a few days.
  14. I've seen people come a little unstuck on "easy" trees, never get complacent.
  15. Let's not forget, all children are genuine cases, and in need of help and support, whether it's the parents or the State. Society can not and must not penalise the child for it's parents doings. As I said, we need a proper, well thought out and structured plan to deal with this issue, not a knee jerk reaction in a vain attempt to grab headlines and future votes.
  16. On your second point, I fear we are going to make a huge mistake implementing this. On paper it's fine, and I agree with it. But things aren't that simple, and people will still breed and breed and breed. It will be the children that Wil suffer, they have no choice who they are born to, wealthy or poor, cruel or kind. But they will be the ones that are most affected. If there is no handouts, how will they be fed? Clothed? Educated? I see a return to the late 19th century, social deprivation, maybe kids being malnourished and mistreated. The parents are not going to change, but the kids may be abandoned. Do we really want a society with an underworld of street kids like some countries, I don't think so. I think the government and society needs to think long and hard about the right way to do this.
  17. Drugs and alcohol = instant dismissal, no ifs buts or maybes. That easy.
  18. Why would anyone deny birth control to a 12 year old? The old fashioned ways have been proven not to work, teaching the "birds and bees" threatening them with a damn good thrashing, sending them to their room etc do not work. Kids are going to go out, form quasi relationships, have sex, fact. Be pro active and work with them, not against them. I would hate a 12 year old daughter to come home pregnant, better that she has protective sex than non protected. If a child feels she can't talk to her parents, and confide in them, then she should be able to talk to her GP and take the necessary precautions. The old days of hiding young mothers away in a mental institution or with the nuns are over, thank god.
  19. I did. and they still do.
  20. What they didn't discuss, (unless I missed it) was the fact that the lions had pooed on their side of the fence. Now I wouldn't be worried that they were the other side, but the nagging doubt that the poo arrived my side of the fence would make my sphincter pucker up slightly
  21. Maybe I just like my life too much to be worrying unduly about that which I have no control over. I can go out and play in a field with a tractor in the sunshine, others can sit and stew about human kinds future, if there is one.
  22. Ok, it's a discussion point, I agree, but on such a wonderful morning I would not be stuck in listening to politics, comedy or anything else. I was however in a wild flower meadow raking off the cut hay and loading onto a trailer behind a petrol paraffin David Brown, topic of discussion was as important as the bestest fuel for a Kelly Kettle, and the favoured outdoor brew. Its a different world down here Dean
  23. No Felix, the Guardian reader will be queueing to jump in front of the 7.45am express into London due to his depression at his life history. The less intelligent are blissfully unaware of any of life issues and will just blunder through life regardless, some will make 100.
  24. I cannot believe that on such a beautiful sunny autumnal day that anyone could compose such a depressing thread so full of misery. PS I live in a council house and had two kids by the time I was 25, i left school at 16 with the minimum of qualifications. Generalisations suck
