  1. If the country isnt already in a mess, it will be if the migrant workers let the Brits work!
  2. heavy cloud, dull and overcast with showers, just about summed up my day
  3. Typically, most days a fry-up where ever possible. Or use the Kelly with stove kit to heat curry, or beans and sausages, or all the above, or jet-boil and heat a rat-pack if its peeing down. never sandwiches these days!!
  4. Couple of shots from todays work, poplar reductions roadside, nothing exciting
  5. I dont think you need to throw loads of money about to be professional, thats down to your attitude, the way you do the job, the way you deal with clients. Big kit doesnt make you a pro, but those who have built up a reputable business over the years tend to have the best kit to carry out the job in a professional manner
  6. I generally charge 25-30quid a shroom
  7. HMmm this thread should be called "How they got away with it!":001_smile:
  8. I used to stress out about it, acid reflux, sleepless nights, mind racing, stomach knotting, then I sat down and read Stevies thread on stress, re-evaluated what i want, what I need, and how happy I want to be, and suddenly everything seems to be in perspective. I'm sure most of us have, at some time, had the same thoughts and the same worries, and its because we care, because we care we sit here night after night talking about it, summing it up, chewing it over. And suddenly everything clicks into place, we aint alone in our thoughts, we can share it around and bounce it off each other. Enjoy your wine, chill out, its a whole new day tomorrow.
  9. I cannot believe how many toadstools I sell in a year, who on earth keeps buying them. The week before Xmas I sold 10!! I bet somebody swore when he wanted an X-box and got a poxy toadstool:biggrin: Practise makes perfect, trim down the bark ridge a bit more, I do about 2" of bark edging. I dont faff around with them these days, just knock em up and shift em out. I'd love to have the skills to do something like the better carvers do, but i dont have that so shrooms it is.
  10. You can spend your whole life worrying about this, nothing will change it. No amount of policing, legislation or H&S visits can alter it. As the economy tightens, people will cut corners and employ the cheaper, less qualified, less "approved" types in order to cut costs. All you'll do is end up with tight knots in your stomach and sleepless nights, acid rising in your chest making you feel terrible. Concentrate on your business, your family and try not to let it get at you. It'll not go away, but you'll be feeling better not fretting.
  11. Looks very good, I take it your planning on doing more. What price per metre does this work out at?
  12. This topic came up in the pub the other night. A new employee was entitled to a large tax rebate, which their new employer was expected to pay out. This must be a headache to sort out, esp if your business is struggling in the winter months. This HM Revenue & Customs: Claim funding for a tax refund for your employees should help advise you if you find yourself in this position. With many being laid off all over the country, I suspect rebates are going to be a big thing to consider if you want to take on new staff.
  13. Not as much as the neat iodine I poured over me mates gravel rash once!! He didnt half go a strange colour:confused1:
  14. In the best Top Gear tradition, leave those who fall:biggrin:
  15. Absolutely stunning machinery there burrell, nice one. Love watching the od machinery working. In the summer we have 2 Or 3 steam engines trundle through the village to the pub.
  16. Try Sky-High Access in Blakenham, Suffolk, or SGB in Ipswich http://www.skyhigh.org.uk/new_page_1.htm
  17. In the forum rules it states that racism etc will not be tolerated on here. Now whatever your feelings to any ethnic group, gypsies included, keep them to yourselves, or entire posts will be removed. I'll also point out that all races have access to the internet, all races run businesses, and all races may be your future employers/clients, so to speak on forum in such a bad manner could also affect you directly in the future.
