  1. Called in tonight, looks a good set-up now. Good indoor facilities for training, whether you need a classroom environment, workshop training (ie saw maintenance) climbing/rigging area or leccy poles. Nice to catch up with a few faces from here, and a few others local in the industry.
  2. I set this up as they were successfully derailing a serious thread, and thought it best to give them an alternative spot.
  3. Can you run a slideshow on injuries, plenty on the net?
  4. Update for 2010 Wood Sale and craft fair 9 & 10 October 2010, this show seems to be growing every year, if your local worth a look. See you there:thumbup:
  5. Steve is a sound guy, you should do ok with him:001_smile:
  6. It does depend on the woods though Felix. A lot of the woods I get to work in were planted on areas too wet for farming, and frequently sit with a couple of inches of water in the winter!! I have a pair of wellies esp for these jobs, as the mud soon creeps over the top of the leather boots, misery. But for just about all other work I have "proper" Goretex lined boots, its gotta be bad before the wellies come out. Odd Bird, get some of the cheaper leather chainsaw boots, without Goretex if you cant afford them, then buy some Sealskin socks to wear on really wet days, c0ld wet feet are utter misery.
  7. We used to have a SWB SIII with a Simon picker on it, anything over 30mph it was lethal, we called it Lurch
  8. I'm here to serve.... and its gone..... can I have a cuppa tea now, or do you have any other chores for me
  9. Actually I cocked up the procedure, so you now have 2 little chit-chat areas to play in:thumbup1: Takes practice this modding ya knows:thumbup1:
  10. here ya go chaps:thumbup:
  11. I LOVE SPIDERS:thumbup:
  12. Yes, Schliesing 220 on tracks = Dogs Danglies:thumbup1:
  13. What are peoples landies like? Dirty, mainly, and practical, esp when laden with chip and chipper:thumbup: Ps nt mine, but a colleagues
  14. Hoping to make it along tomorrow, work permitting:thumbup1:
  15. Dog does... he lies there pretending to be asleep, and then along comes mr Spidey, scuttle scuttle scuttle..... then.......SNAP...no Mr Spidey any more:biggrin:
  16. I've got a load of Pops to drop in couple of weeks, so far havent been able to give it away, let alone sell it.
  17. Actually, just realised John hasnt been on for a while, hope everything is ok mate, and have a good one:thumbup1:
  18. Dean... you've already dropped the card, and the dogs eaten it!
  19. When I worked in warehousing, people were sacked for taking a Mars bar, Police were brought in etc, others caught had lofts full of cigarettes, all treated the same. Zero tolerance, all theft is just that. Also a thief, regardless of severity of crime, was escorted from the premises by security, a "walk of shame" if you like. The excuse that it was "only" a Mars bar didnt wash with anyone. A small company cannot afford to lose money through theft, we all moan about how tight our margins are, why make them tighter. A few logs over a year becomes a couple of truck loads, before you know it, he's syphoning fuel, taking cash on the side, taking your clients for "weekenders", and you go bust.
  20. I would hate to have anyone around I didnt feel I could trust, I'd hate to be watching his every move in case he stepped out of line again.
  21. Now the way I see it is that he hasnt even got a conscience, if he's on the take from a mate.
  22. You are too close to the subject, we are not, we see it as it is, and make no excuses. Personally I wouldnt brood over it. You brought it up on here to get answers and opinions, the over-whelming majority here have said more or less the same. Thats the answer you knew would come. You cannot afford to work all your life for someone to just take whatever he wants, when he wants. Dont worry about being fair to him, he has not been fair to you. He made that choice.
  23. And firing a thief is the 1st thing you should do! because he's a friend (was?) its even more of a betrayal.
  24. Seriously, ditch him. This job is about trust. Trust with kit, trust with money in the truck, trust with clients property, trust with your life. If the trust isnt there.... goodbye. Plenty out there looking for work.
