Seventh Trip, or Netzach (the SNAFU Principle) "The most thoroughly and relentlessly Damned, banned, excluded, condemned, forbidden, ostracized, ignore, suppressed, repressed, robbed, brutalized and defamed of all Damned Things is the individual human being. The social engineers, statistician, psychologist, sociologists, market researchers, landlords, bureaucrats, captains of industry, bankers, governors, commissars, kings and presidents are perpetually forcing this Damned Thing into carefully prepared blueprints and perpetually irritated that the Damned Thing will not fit into the slot assigned it. The theologians call it a sinner and try to reform it. The governor calls it a criminal and tries to punish it. the psychologist calls it a neurotic and tries to cure it. Still, the Damned Thing will not fit into their slots from the book ; Never Whistle While You're Pissing by Hagbard Celine
  5. Open your eyes mate. He's not fat & still got hair:001_tongue:
  6. Bill, the loading is DOUBLE the force placed upon a single leg- be it static or shockloaded
  7. And that has what to do with this thread?
  8. Working in my local area. I could not watch for long as he nearly fell twice
  9. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=608&highlight=limb+walk A similar thread with some more good advice
  10. I left NHC a voicemail- plus emailed to the hudds area operative today

  11. The issue of the "climber on the ground" is the point where my respect for the system falls apart. The cost of compliance would put most companies out of the picture and i'm not writing a risk asessment for running a chipper whilst wearing a harness!!!!
  12. Do you think it would have held on the stump longer if you had retained all the buttress roots?
  13. Nice Carl. Big tree and brown trousers in the same day
  14. For what it was worth I did report it. However they were unable to send anyone from Leeds (approx 20 miles along the M62) within the hour or so I expected them to finish there work. They were happy for me to get the homeowners and workers details for them though......... For those who have an issue with such things being reported; if you do not- DON'T YOU DARE COMPLAIN!
  15. This guy has got the HSE sussed.................
  16. Increasing and tightening legislation without enforcement ( unless it is post accident or incident ) is a sure way to loose respect from the industry, as well as kill off compliant but marginally profitable companies. You hit the nail on the head Iain
  17. A little too steep for me
  18. Good point Paul. However it has been a while since i have seen the proliferation of self-seeed sycamores i remember over a decade ago. Anyone else notice this?
  19. As has been said- if natrural crotch is used then the force is into the stem, as opposed to a block which is hanging from it, hence loading as opposed to disapaiting the force through it. Spydie has the answers http://www.mytreelessons.com/Pages/Tensionless_Anchors.htm
  20. Be nice if Graeme or Angus could post it. A great method of felling for special circumstances, tree and skill levels permitting
  21. It was Graeme McMahon- in southern OZ. Here is a pic i pinched from a TBuzz thread on it
  22. Did recieve either written instruction, comformation of works or quotation from the occupier of the property?
  23. What about the side-loading if the two points are not in line?
  24. It sometimes takes such an irrational response to make you study your actions, realise that you are in the right and feel comfortable that the world is mad, and you are it's last hope for sanity p.s. I recon the lady complainant get's out a little more:001_tongue:
  25. Yup - locked box or they are fair game:001_cool:
