  1. A good point. Is this shelter belt the only place you need to saw for? Its likely only going to need doing once. Is the saw then going to sit unused? It may well be more cost effective to have a mewp for a day, or even a climber.
  2. A term used by some people to elicit an angered response from those they are referring to. It makes them feel superior to be one of the few truly "in the know". It suggests that the people being referred somehow have less education o a particular subject, follow only mainstream media, and are gullible. This of course is often a completely unsubstantiated claim. 1990's - You're fools! Global Warming will kill us all, but you're too busy consuming and polluting listening to whatever the news will tell you. ENJOY YOUR LIES SHEEPLE! same person later 2000's - You're fools! There's no such thing as Global Warming! You're too busy listening to Al Gore and whatever these so called "green" companies say not realizing they're just after your money! ENJOY YOUR LIES SHEEPLE!
  3. Yes very important point this. I have had a couple mishaps in the past with bits hanging on then falling not as suspected. Had one land tips down, and spring straight towards me, my mouth taking the the full brunt of the butt. Used various different models, and the Stihl is the best IMO. I'd avoid the combi unit unless you're on a budget and really need 1 machine that will do several things.
  4. The trick is to not bat an eyelid when that happens so everyone thinks its perfectly normal
  5. In a word, Crap! Had a 5am start as we were working in London. De-ivying pretty bit Ash and Sycamore so really not the best of jobs anyway. Satnav took me right into the centre of the city somehow, got to see all the sites and had the privelege of paying the congestion charge. Finally got to site about 9:45. 2 days were allowed for the job but we were getting on well so knuckled down to get the whole job done to save going back tomorrow. Figured I would treat myself to a couple glasses of wine to unwind with, so stopped in tescos on the way home around 9:15pm. Got out of the truck and heard a loud hissing sound. Bloody puncture just to round my day off. And just to make it worse i'm trading the truck in next month and was really hoping the tyres would last till then(they are on their last legs). Now looking likely that i'll probably have to replace the tyre as well as the one on the opposite side just so they are even. Sometimes its really not worth getting out of bed.

  7. I got my gloves caught in the wrench the other day. Quite possibly more annoying than getting it caught in the hitch.
  8. Personally if I was a trainer i'd skip straight past using a prussik for climbing and go straight onto the distel or knut, followed by the vt. Sure I would include teaching a prussik in the sylabus, but using it for day to day production work? No way.
  9. Superb work as always. Wheres it going?
  10. If he's given you the job id say thank you very much and do what he's specced it to.
  11. can't work out whats going on there?
  12. Yeah seems ok. Quite hard for me to really tell as i'm only used to using friction cord on Ddrt and even that was a while ago now. I don't like the price though, bought it on an impulse at my local dealer. Something silly like £24, obviously paying for the stitched eyes. I'd be quite happy with tied eyes.
  13. its a good device, but it takes a lot of practice to master it like in the demo videos thats for sure. Maybe not the best device for a new climber.
  14. Just one half decent sized Oak Rich, but nothing massive. Got 2 days of stripping ivy from 70ft woodland Ash next week. I think provided I get lines set easily enough with the throwline then it will come into its own for that job.
  15. Interesting Josh. How secure would you rate it?
  16. Customer had a go at it themselves i'm guessing
  17. hahaha John, that'll be fun for you
  18. No point being in this game if you don't carry all the gear
