  1. Just knocked up this new site which is targetted at drawing in more people to add tip sites. I expect turning up at Arbtalk was confusing some people, this should help. I have added share buttons to the site which are pretty obvious. If anyone is a member of any facebook groups that they think this could be of interest to, or any other sites for that matter, please help by sharing the site. https://freewoodchips.co.uk
  2. This you? https://arbtalk.co.uk/profile/48023-woodlover/
  3. interesting https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/nasa-study-mass-gains-of-antarctic-ice-sheet-greater-than-losses
  4. I can change it for sure, just let me know what to As an example of how accommodating I try to be, I actually spent about half an hour editing the code of the site as your overly long username was breaking out of a couple of the templates......and then people rant for 8 pages that they are not allowed to swear in the playground ?
  5. Great thanks! any chance I could have your first name and last initial? I have just created a new website to promote this and would like to add your testimonial if possible. It will look like this
  6. Ditch the klemheist. Use a knot such as the one in the video above, or buy yourself a zigzag or similar mechanical device. Body thrusting is for fools, don't leave it 10 years to switch to a more advanced climbing method, the damage will already be done. Oh, and treat yourself to a foot ascender!
  7. For the record the swearing thing is nothing to do with sponsors. That rule existed before I even had any advertisers
  8. Arbtalk is a shop window into our industry, like it or not. On the one hand people complain that we are not taken seriously as an industry, not paid enough, not considered professional. Then they whinge when they are pulled up for lowering the tone on here with what is basically unnecessary language. I'm no prude, I swear as much as the next man, maybe even more. But i am quite capable of curbing my language when i'm typing. Not really sure why its a massive problem for some people.
  9. i'd like a few testimonials from people who have used the tip site directory successfully please. If anyone can spare a minute to write a couple of lines it would be appreciated, thanks
  10. Done. I think I filled in the aches and pains section correctly ?
  11. I don't believe they intended the link to work in that manner Edward, anyway the link it ultimately leads to is survey monkey https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Treeclimberbiomechanics
  12. Some of the comments on that report are just recockulous edit: most of them are
  13. i've known a few larger climbers in my time who seem to get around a tree. Maybe not as well as someone fitter. However, you've lost 15kg, you're obviously doing something right and have the right attitude
  14. ART ropeguide is the best option on the market IMO
  15. Just get registered. Not sure why people make sure a big deal about this to be honest. Its like a little tax savings account, and if you're crap with your money like I am then it can really be a positive thing come tax time.
  16. Basically, if you turn up as a bonafide subcontractor to do work for another company, providing your own vehicle, own staff, and carry out the job under your own supervision, then their EL doesn't cover you. If you turn up as a labourer for another company, be it a climber or groundsman, you are covered under their EL
  17. It’s on the employer. There is no grey area. EL is a legal requirement
  18. It’s on the employer. There is no grey area. EL is a legal requirement
  19. Thought about adding yourself to the wood chip tip sites directory?
  20. Well naturally, because you have no perspective from the other side. As an aerial based saw user, I can't understand why anyone wouldn't use one.
  21. Kingwell would probably be able to advise you on the legal side of burning Air curtain incinerator hire
