Are you using an 8 pin ? If so fit a 7 pin and run it for a bit till its done the initial "stretch " and go back to the 8 pin .

 

Cant help thinking if you need to do that with your new chains you are buying the wrong chains.

I don't . My Oregon or Stihl chains go strait on with an 8 pin . Just a suggestion IF the op was using an 8 pin . Not sure that he is though .....

I've only tried the .404 for 10 minutes. Like I say, 10 minutes.

 

Dear Rotatech, I was supposed to feedback about your .404 chain. Apart from the above, where it lost its edge within 10 minutes in larch thinnings, I've not retried it. Had it on the grinder this afternoon and it certainly sharpens beautifully. Soft? I'll give it another go soon... This is on a harvester.

9 pin off a 460 I think. Don't think I have a 7 or 8 pin, both stihl and oregon Chain hasn't needed me to change the sprocket so I thought this isn't the bother.

 

I also noticed I'd knocked a tooth off a brand new 3/8p chain on a 360tes. Not even had A chance to sharpen it yet.

 

The rotatech. 325 chain I been running on my 357 has been fine though.

Not that excited about having to change sprockets everytime I change chains.know it's not too time consuming, but annoying knowing that I wouldn't have to with other brands

No . I would not do it either . Was just a suggestion for this one so you could get some use out of it .

I went through a phase of using carlton chain on my small saws never again, buy cheap buy twice.

tryed it ,ballache to sharpen even with a new file ,had to use an oversized file to get it sharp,

 

bought 3, got 2.1/2 left ,chucked on work bench

 

will stick with stihl,husky & oregon

Horrible jumpy stretchy chains and they seem to really eat bars and drive sprockets. The cutters on the 3/8 chains seem way larger than on oregon or stihl, which is what makes them jumpy imho.
