Ha ha!

My first boss in this job in the mid nineties used to tell the same stories again and again on the way to jobs. Always with him winning the argument/confrontation a bit like the end of every chapter in Alan Partridge's autobiography "needless to say, I had the last laugh"

Even if you said to him "Derry, you've told this story half a dozen times" he'd say

In a rather surprised tone "Have I?" Then after a moment "anyway, as I was saying" and tell the whole thing again.

I was relating this to the guys that work for me and said "if I ever get me that tell me!"

"Well actually" says the guy who has been dragging brush on and off for a decade "I must have heard that story about your old boss 20 times"

It comes to us all I suppose...

Ha, brilliant.

I hope I dont do the same as when someone starts telling me the same story again I stop them quickly simply saying "Oh yeah I remember you saying that" Works every single time, you just have to get in there quick. It has saved me numerous days of boredom and has allowed me to spend more time on the bog.

Just read the earlier news about the Katie Price tragedy, heartbreaking stuff, you just dont realise hoe bad others have it.:crying:

Did anyone watch the leadership questions tonight? May's an absoulte shambles who flustered under gentle questioning. Corbyn got both barrels of Tory Paxman and handled it fine.

Come on Mark, anyone who would put Diane Abbott up as shadow Home Secretary has got to be deluded or a fool or both :001_huh:

Yes Mark.

Interesting that you mention the "fluster" thing.

All party politics aside, I was discussing with the wife the differing reactions that male and female have under "spotlight" pressure.

Mindful that Paxman is a fairly aggressive interrogator, it's interesting to observe the differing reactions of (M) Corbyn and (F) May.

Notwithstanding personality traits / characteristics, we'd agreed that May might flush and fluster under the direct pressure of 1 on 1 male aggressive questioning.

Mind, this was a conversation we had before the sessions started.

We both agreed that it would be probable that May would "fluster." Wife's view was that, try as you might, for a female, it's a gender trait that is very difficult to overcome and massively frustrating.

I wonder if it would have been different if it was a female interrogator? Would May have delivered a more confidant output? (please don't take that as an indication that I, personally, considered May's output to lack credibility :laugh1:)

As a foot note, and still trying to rise above the party politics, it was my view that Corbyn had obviously been heavily schooled by the Red Flag media ops team but was still wholly unable to disguise his discomfort at being asked questions about subjects which he has spent his entire political career and personal belief promoting, but is unable to declare in his current role as aspiring PM.

On a separate note, and in the spirit of the thread, albeit not "today", just seen this piece about the Walled Off Hotel:

Just another millionaire Trot exploiting a political angle to support the Champagne Socialist lifestyle or a genuine, inspirational and thought provoking work of art??
