Keeping it light hearted:

A fugitive who attempted to evade police by hiding himself in bushes managed to – quite literally – blow his own cover with a loud fart. The wanted man, whose identity remains unknown, had fled into a wooded area close to Harworth, Nottinghamshire, in the early hours of May 7 with officers in hot pursuit. …

So what a mess we have here in Wales now following BoJo's broadcast this evening.

People living in England can (from Wednesday) drive to wherever they like, sunbathe, relax in the sun, presumably have a kick around with a football, or a cricket bat.  Here in Wales, we are still locked down indefinitely.  We can leave the house more than once, but not drive anywhere to walk or exercise.  So people living in (for example) Ross-on-Wye can drive to Brighton beech, or the Lake district and have a lovely picnic, but if they head half a mile west and cross the border into Wales, they could be turned round and fined.

I am going to ring my brother now for a chat - he lives in Bristol, so I guess he will be going back to playing golf weekly as long as it is in England....

I hope the leader of the Welsh Assembly (or whatever they call themselves these days) has the sense to align the rules urgently, or we are going to have a right confusing mess, and possibly much resentment.  What is even more annoying  is that BoJo seemed to set all the rules initially, even in Wales, and we all received our BoJo letter telling us what to do, yet now it appears he no longer has a say in Wales.

I am not saying either message is wrong, I just think it would be sensible to be consistent!

Look on the bright side Mark.... we could have had the EU take charge of measures to navigate us through the pandemic...

How long do you think the country can afford to sit at home doing bugger all for?
In an ideal world we should have had total lockdown for a month and killed it off but it’s just not possible

I've no idea. If a business isn't viable during or post-pandemic, then it should probably be looking for a job that is.
We keep getting told we're a rich country. Let's spend some money.

It's no longer possible to 'kill it off'  because we failed to act on the warnings.

They're on about opening up schools for reception age kids. Do you think that social distancing of children is a plausible thing? Would you send your kids back to school? Many people live in households with 'vulnerable' people. I doubt many people would be happy if it was found that their kid was the vector that caused the untimely death of his teacher's Dad.

Latest advice seems to be:

Go to work unless you can't go to work
Use your car unless you can't use your car
Don't use public transport unless you have to use public transport
Stay at home, but you can go out unlimited times
Things might reopen unless they don't
We're past the peak but we're not
We're in a new phase now unless we aren't
Things are different unless it turns out they are the same
