Is there an example of privatisation of major national institutions that has been an unqualified success?

Trains and water being generally considered not to have been (a success)

Pretty much yes, take the NHS as an example, with its 190 Billion budget, sure you are going to find savings in there but not to the scale that the politicians think they are going to find. 1 Billion is a huge number for example but 0.5% of the entire NHS budget. Given that the politicians have been studying the NHS (and other services) for the last 20+ years to find waste as I say, I would be amazed if they find 1 billion wasted cash.

So yes, in relative terms, there is no waste in the NHS budget.

I'll say no.

Imagine that Starmer announced tomorrow that they are going to privatise the NHS, standing ovation from a certain group of people,  and then he says the Chinese government have stepped in to control and oversee the whole thing. Your energy network, and basic necessities , water etc, transport infrastructure and health service is all controlled by foreign companies.

Happy days.

.. with a family like that I am not surprised one of them would be OK at first aid!

Ha yeah, concealed weapons and major trauma, it's no wonder that they ended up in those professions!

I absolutely agree 👍 worse still I could just behave like you never asked them in the first place. Mind you 42 you do tend to kick the arse out of them a bit.

Make your mind up 42, one minute it’s “ you just dont  get it” the next it’s praise regarding my intellect 🤔could it be you are not being very genuine 🤦😂

Jeez you love a question don’t you.
Yeah good night 42, amazing vibe here at the moment what with carnival etc ( definitely a much happier less BS and rules, just get on with life type of place compared to the suffocating oppressive relentless regulation type environment we live under in the UK)

Food if you want to be adventurous is good,  but I’m quite a plain eater  if I’m being honest so tend keep it simple.
Anyway work beckons.
Dont have the time to go into too much detail but at least I’ve endeavoured to answer your questions, hopefully SP takes notice.

No, not really. I was hoping to engage you in a reasoned discussion on the impact of illegal immigrants on the NHS. You'll have to drop your weird obsession with Stephen P for a short time though.

Back, I don't know how many pages, to your assertion that the NHS is being used to care for tens of thousands of illegal immigrants. Have you got any figures for that? What percentage of them access an NHS service, after arriving yesterday? It's just that the vast majority of non-indigenous people, immigrants, that I see in healthcare settings are elderly, male and female gender of equal proportion and quite often obese, to a greater or lesser extent. I.e. not the demographic of your average seafaring, rubber dinghy borne "illegal". (You'd expect fighting age males to be pretty fit and healthy after all).

I'd wager that the obesity epidemic, and lesser public health issues, are costing the NHS considerably more than immigrants. Along with private healthcare parasites, creeping privatisation. What do you think we should do to combat that? Combatting immigration won't help with that at all.

Not to mention the fact that the NHS is hugely staffed by immigrants. That's a whole other strand to the conversation. Its complicated.

 Any thoughts, care to discuss?

🤷‍♂️From a man who’s just spent two days asking questions 😞very disappointing 42.
Just goes to show how much slack having the same political views gets you.

Radical Islam at its worst. Good to see a bit of recognition for the innocent lives lost that day. Somewhat like the recent D Day anniversary it doesn’t seem to count for nothing to some of the most prolific posters on here.
