Fill yer boots:
You might as well get used to it as it's here and it's useful. I will eat my hat if blockchain technology isn't being utilised in your sector by 2026.

What are the current and projected real world uses for blockchain technology?

Blockchain technology is currently being utilized across various industries and is projected to have even more widespread applications by 2025. Here are some of the current and projected real-world uses for blockchain technology:

Financial Services

  • Cross-border payments: Blockchain enables fast and secure international transactions by eliminating intermediaries1.
  • Decentralized finance (DeFi): Automated lending, borrowing, and trading platforms reduce costs and delays1.
  • Fractional ownership: Platforms like RealT tokenize real estate, allowing individuals to invest in high-value assets2.
  • Microloans and financial inclusion: Companies like BanQu extend blockchain-based financial services to the unbanked2.
  • Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs): By 2025, more central banks are expected to launch their own digital currencies37.

Supply Chain and Logistics

  • Product tracking: Blockchain enhances traceability by recording every transaction in the supply chain1.
  • Food safety: Walmart uses blockchain to trace the origin and journey of food products2.
  • Anti-counterfeiting: Companies like Chronicled utilize blockchain to verify the authenticity of pharmaceuticals2.
  • Logistics optimization: VeChain integrates blockchain for supply chain optimization2.

Healthcare

  • Secure patient data management: Blockchain encrypts and securely stores sensitive patient information1.
  • Credential verification: Learning Machine uses blockchain for secure issuance of digital diplomas2.

Government and Voting

  • Digital infrastructure: By 2025, government adoption of blockchain is projected to reach 90%7.
  • Secure digital voting: Blockchain creates immutable records of every vote, enhancing trust in election results1.

Real Estate

  • Property transactions: Propy uses blockchain for secure and transparent real estate transactions2.
  • Land registries: Countries like Georgia and Sweden use blockchain to manage land registries5.

Energy Sector

  • Peer-to-peer energy trading: Powerledger allows users to trade excess renewable energy with neighbors5.
  • Energy trading optimization: Platforms like Vakt automate trade settlement processes in the energy sector5.

Mark I could be getting paid by blockchain or mushroom’s at some point as long as what goes into my account is pounds sterling I really don’t care or feel the need to know anything about it. How will I get used to it ??? Will Joe average on the high street ever know the difference between blockchain and whatever is or has been used previously 🤔 “ or jill if he chooses to identify as such”. Lot to be said for some good old fashioned face to face cash dealings way back when.

Protesters will gather outside court of appeal in support of activists, who say judges defied decades of precedent

It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. Personally I believe those prepared to sacrifice their freedom to push awareness of the climate/biodiversity crises are some of the heroes of our time. All those convicted were prepared to go to prison but the lengths of the sentences were surprising and unprecedented given not just the human rights issues but also the horrendous state of UK prison overcrowding/ costs to taxpayer of imprisonment.

APPLE.NEWS

Rachel Reeves has announced her support for a third runway at Heathrow Airport.

Well that’s a bit of a kick in the nuts for old Milliband and his net zero madness, figures being mentioned on the news earlier were up to 700 extra flights a day, mind you it’s probably for those electric planes she was on about a couple of days ago.
Saw Reynolds this morning praising among others Thatcher and Trump for his dynamism in his first few days in power, apparently Labour are gonna emulate that now, I guess he’s not heard the old saying “ you never get a second chance to make a first impression “

The cold hard reality of what business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals, self employed etc think of Reeves is easily seen by reading a handful of the comments.

I am going for growth. For new jobs across the country. For our public services. For more...

Ahhh, we're doing politics today, the never ending government bashing? (Edit: If only there was a thread for those who don't think Labour are doing a good job instead of.... every thread ever)

A point of interest, it's 5 years since the UK left the EU... those new bright sunny heartlands... 350millions to the NHS, fishermen catching all our fish in our sovereign waters (and not just mackerel), seamless exports to the EU (but restrictions on their imports), massive profitable trade deals with the rest of the world (but none to the EU), UK citizens travel to Europe as before (but they are limited to travel here), immigration levels falling, home grown doctors falling over themselves to work, nurses coming out of our ears, leading the world in everything, the world being our oyster (as long as the oysters are taken from the River Severn, that sounds about right). All because we don't like the Belgians.

5 years of unrivalled growth (spell checker humour wanted this to be unravelled). This time next year we'll be millionaires.

How is that playing out?

She hasn't got a clue. "Green"? Increasing consumption ain't going to lead to growth ultimately, sustainable or otherwise.

Front of the queue again lad 👍👍well done 😂

Right SP

This thread is

“Making the news today” is it not ?. Now not sure if you noticed but the 3rd runway and  another yet another reset for growth etc etc from CV Reeves was all over the news.
You guys were relentless when the tories were in so don’t be a hysterical bitch when the shoes on the other foot. It’s not my fault your beloved not Tory Labour are making a rip roaring arse of things.
You let your personal feelings come through a bit much SP at times 😂😂.

Regards yet another angry remainer Brexit rant 🤷‍♂️what’s your point and how is that aligned to reeves and her electric plane runway. Or is it you just venting after yet another shit day in the office, there’s a bit more information regards Reeves from yet another successful businessman who has actually built and ran a company unlike anyone from the Labour front bench 🦤

... however instead of commenting on the actual news story you went off onto one of your 'daily politics' rants. How about we look at the benefits or otherwise of another runway at Heathrow... which was the 'making the news today' ? The "Everything labour do is shit" rhetoric you are pushing wasn't in the story at all (pick a story, any story, link it to the current government add in Milliband, or Reeves with "utter madness" and I can make up any one of your posts, almost like AI without the I)

My thoughts are that the UK is too focussed on London, we should be looking to develop away from the capital. For example, 2 of our exports mentioned in the article (on the assumption they are flown to the US) being Scottish Salmon and Whisky.. so why fly them to London and then fly them to the US... why not bung them on a plane at Prestwick.. and bring jobs and money to the provinces.

Hows that for a starter. I don't expect that you, JohnsonD will manage a paragraph without resorting to your usual rants and insults... but lets see.

😂😂😂Calm down SP, funnily enough the fact that a 3rd runway would obliterate all the netzero lunacy was being discussed on Sky just now, so I guess I’m not the only one who raised an eyebrow. You are an angry little lefty nowadays. I’m sorry but everything Labour is doing is shite 🤷‍♂️it’s not hard to find things to post about, I don’t even need to lie or make up bollocks accusations eh 👍.
Scottish salmon 😂yet another thing you know bugger all about. Do a bit of googling and look up aquaculture, it’s the  learning ground for many a commercial diver. You couldn’t pay me  to eat farmed Scottish salmon.
