Not really,time on boats counts as offshore experience.  I am sure that both guys at some point could see how their careers as Navy divers was going to smooth their transition to offshore work.

 

Many Scots also join to learn English and the chance of a cheap Kilt.

Just a fact correction, the Scots comments go over his head - he's a Geordie? or close enough? However the learning English comment still stands.....

He does know two Norwegians though,and at least one Finn who has done nation service.

Don't Scots join for the fighting?

We've an unwritten rule that we have to be nice to people when we're abroad so that we're distinguishable from other Brits, so once you've fought with everyone in your village/town/city the next step traditionally is soldiering.

You utter prick, Born in Northumberland, live in Aberdeenshire, served in the British Army. Two of my 4 sons have completed national service in Finland, 3rd due to go next January after completing his degree. I really wish you were stood in front of me right now so I could ask you to repeat that to my face.
