Yet we have Nightingale Hospitals laying empty. One is reported to soon fill 300 of the 4000 bed capacity. When we see these hospitals fill and bursting over then I’ll start to take this seriously.

And I don’t buy there’s no staff to man them either. Thousand upon thousands of specialist beds and Covid specific equipment just sitting idly by whilst people are supposedly dying in tents and backs of ambulances.

It does cross my mind that herding every patent into over crowded hospitals created the image that the NHS is full beyond capacity therefore we need to maintain and continue the lock-down. Increase it even. But if the Nightingale Hospitals where in use the regular hospitals would be all but empty and there would be a strong case for getting back to some form of normality as we’re repeatedly told we’re in lock-down so as to not overwhelm the hospitals.
We've covered this in another discussion. The suspicion is that the Nightingale Hospitals were just another monumental government fckup. They were probably well intentioned, albeit a kneejerk reaction, but no thought was given to how they would be staffed. Especially when a lot of NHS staff are off sick, with Covid, or self-isolating. No doubt some chums of Boris or one of his world beating team also profited hugely from their construction. Much like other elements of our pandemic response strategy. (Track and Trace, PPE procurement, testing etc)

That's the reason you are giving us daft answers, You Have Never Worked in Public Sector and its obvious. You have what we call a Fixed Mindset, no matter what the facts are you always stick to your own mindset. We see this mindset in politicians so there's no point in arguing with you. I'm off to work now, have a good day. [emoji40]
Fixed mindset. Akin to Dogma.

There's no staff. NHS was cut to the bone so there is no fat and now staff are catching the virus which is inevitable. Don't mean to be cheeky but have you ever worked in public service?

I have, my wife did, our daughter does.

The public service has a proportion of lazy useless, stupid or intelligent, slackers who abuse the terms and conditions,  cannot be sacked, and blight the organisations for good/decent staff.

Tough.

P.S.

Re public behavoiur and my previous rants re the herd of stupid selfish feckers gumming up A&E, before Covid hit.

Where did they evoporate to overnight, did they miracously stop hurting themselves, or decide they were actually OK?

Since the A&E were lying empty.

P.S.

Yesterday in Portrush, might as well have been a fine summers day, such was the hoards out enjoying the sunshine.

And probably mostly decent folk, who have simply had a bellyfull of being told what to do, whether or not the instructions make sense or actually achieve anything.

This is worth listening too. It's an interview with one of the guys responsible for the eradication of Smallpox. He is an epidemiolist, so is actually an expert in my book, hence I tend to trust what he days.
The last 5 mins is so is pretty sobering. He basically says that vaccination alone is not the way out of this mess, it has to be done in conjunction with all the transmission limitation measures. He reckons those countries that think they can tough if out and follow the flawed Herd Immunity strategy will have a particularly tough few time of it this year.

I can tell some folk on here have never worked in the public sector. The fire service was like a family at ground level. The more the managers pushed us the less we did because it never once came back on us but Always came back on them. Without firefighters they don't have a service and its the same with NHS. The NHS was great when it was run by doctors but now its bean counters who know nothing about human behaviour. This sets the stage for a them and us soap opera, I'm afraid.

It’s rare to see such utter drivel - congratulations!

You appear to epitomise much of what is wrong with the public sector (apparently based upon a low level of experience, knowledge and achievement) whilst accusing ‘others’ of being parochial 😂

The increasingly nonsensical and contradictory nature of your content, juxtaposed with self declared wealth and success, and your membership of just about every UK political party, presents a most peculiar picture.

Are you the unholy bastard child amalgamation of Matelot and Vesp with a newly found work ethic (post public sector employment) which would make Stefan the stump look like a slacker?

You’d probably find folk a good deal more engaging if you saved your (presumably) well considered contributions to the relative benefits / disadvantages of demin v tap water for window cleaning or such like. You know, things that you might be able to contribute from a position of knowledge / experience.

Bejeeezus, there goes the New Year resolution....

Ah canny be arsed to check slime,

but how deadly is Smallpox compared to Covid?

both among the healthy and the others with underlying mortality issues?

And then how comparable are the transmission vectors/mechanisms?

Since, if as I suspect, Covid is much better at spreading itself, one can not draw direct comparisons, since it will be so much harder, if not downright impossible, to stop Covid spreading.

Like with our success in conquering the transmission or re-occurance of influenza to date.
