What's that with the knotters at 4:30, does it do multiple  binds within the pack?

 

Last baler I used was a New Holland 276 around 1976

It ties 2 knots on a bale, one at the start and one at the finish. It's a 2008 krone 890.

 

I've sat up there and tried to work it out but there's too much going on.

The knotters haven't changed but I didn't see what those little rubber feet going up and down were dooing.

 

What dry matter in those bales? Weight? and how much plastic per bale cost?

They're just shock absorbers for the dogs underneath that stop the bale sliding back. Ours has got them top and bottom so you can push the last bale out of the chamber.

 

Dry matter varies on the crop, they weigh 4-500kg for good haylage and it's about £3 in plastic for 3 layers (£5 total to wrap bales).

I enjoyed that and the Buzzard shadows on the ground as they soared overhead. Nice for you to get away from the processor.

What drone do you have as some really decent footage there?

I was thinking of getting one for the shoot I am in.

Years ago your dad took my brother for a look around your farm when you were running the game shoot - shame you moved away from that as the topography is amazing for showing high birds! Large investment of course and you need the co-operation of neighbouring landowners and this is not always easy to achieve.

Yes, we usually get a couple of buzzards and often 5-10 red kites at a time, it's always nice to see.

 

It's a phantom 4 drone, they're very good once you get the hang of them but expensive and there's a lot of new regulation coming for drones this year if you are looking for one. 

 

I miss the shoot, it was only 3 years though as we had to concentrate on the firewood and to be honest we didn't have the area to compete with the big ones and were just losing money.
