Buy a cheap hobby compressor with a 20l tank from Machine Mart or similar for under £100. Charge it fully up at home then chuck it in the van to take to the job. Cleaning crud from saws only takes short bursts, so with care a tank full should last you all day.

 

I often use this method going round a boat park blowing up tyres and it works well enough though I have to go for a refill more often than you will.

Alternatively you can get 12v DC compressors that will run from a car/4x4 battery if you're in a yard with no power, I've never used one myself but one might have enough blast to shift general crud. Handy for inflating tyres too.

I've got one of these, it pish.

ok for inflating tires but not suitable as an airline

Just storage space and cost, it would end up being an expensive airline as the only use I have for the genny is to run the lights and occasionally charge or run a drill.

I guess il just have to stick with the old paint brush for cleaning

Why bother with an airline at all? a cropped brush will get it plenty clean for most things and if your OCD needs it any cleaner take it to a compressor now and again

The only saw I use that needs cleaning on site it a Stihl 150.

 

The sprocket cover gets jammed with sawdust and oil. I clean it with a Combi spanner.

 

The rest can wait til I get back to the yard with electricity.

Don't know if you can still get them but......

 

Years ago, working on the railways as a fencer, we needed a 'light weight' petrol run compressor to run a rivet gun and an air impact driver for different types of fencing we put up.

 

It was your still your Honda engine, just coupled to a compressor.

 

The good part was though, the 'receiver' was the frame...

 

Instead of normal / basic inch diameter tubing frame, it was made of bigger and thicker stuff - slightly larger than scaff tubing....
