Pricing thread

Whats your views on a thread for pricing? I'm fairly new to the self employed game and a lot of my work is the awkward stuff that other firms don't want. So pricing is still a challenge for me, is there a pricing thread on the go where I can post up a few job pics for more experienced members to comment on?

Pricing is very specific to you or any other company /sole trader.

Different people will different availability of kit different levels of kit. Some will look at a job and think my machine can tackle that easy. Others with out the machine. Will think by eck I need x number of guys on this.

Overheads are another thing to think about. Do you have to rent a yard do you have your own place to dispose of arisings.

Work out your overheads. Work out what you need to put bk in to the business and what you want for profit. And that is your price.

Re-price every job in your head after its done, some you'd have priced a little less, most you'd have priced more! But it helps you focus on where you need to be on future jobs. Don't get upset in those jobs where you're way off, you're still earning and it's a learning experience

Pricing jobs will always be different from company to company. For example I can go out and smash a row of connies (12) in a day with my Iveco Daily tipper and 9'' Vermeer chipper. Where as my friend has to do it over 2/3 days because he's got an old entec 125 single feed 4'' chipper and a 90 landy non tipper. As a company I can price a lot more competitively because we can do it much quicker and easier. As well as getting rid of the arisings quicker and easier.

It's the same if I was up against a company doing the same job with a 12'' chipper and a mog for example.
