But be careful trying the same trick with a Stihl 150. Make sure you use stihl green at 50:1 ratio as they'll swab the burnt remains and if you haven't used green at the correct ratio they won't replace under warranty

So I see the recall is now up on ECHO I presume this is the main website? Be interesting to see if my local echo reps are as good as the ones over there. So far, my dealer has been good, its the rep I'm concerned about.

 

At least it`s a voluntary recall,mind you how could they make it compulsory..and surely they mean debris clogging up around the muffler not the engine as well?..don`t most saws get a bit clogged up unless kept clean?

Yep Al Mr Shires was given every C&B excuse under the sun why They would not repair his 150 under warranty.

Its a shame husqy haven't recall their pile of excrement 540XP.

 

The rear spring mount on mine snapped (for the second time) the saw body separated, so I tried to tap it back together, so I could finish what I was doing, this resulted in the top of the plug punching a hole in the fuel tank, this then set the saw on fire!!

 

Fortunately I managed to blow the fire out, but as I was 40ft up a tree at the time it could have been nasty:thumbdown:

I read is as if the engine is clogged, insufficient cooling are can flow around and to the muffler. Glad it's a voluntary recall though, would like to know where I stand if I do keep it till the new one is here.

Good point..if it`s a voluntary recall then can we wait till the new one comes out before handing our 2510`s in i wonder?..will see if i can find out tomorrow.

Voluntary recall just means it's done without government intervention. I'd be concerned if you carry on using it and something happens they might not do an exchange. Won't stop me using mine though.

Hypothetically, Rob, what would happen if one were to continue using the 2510 (accepting the risk of spontaneous incineration) until the 2511 were released?

 

While we're on hypotheticals, if a person had bought one of these Echos, and removed/lost the spark screen/retaining screw, and trimmed the exhaust cover, would Echo still be happy to take that saw back?

 

 

Hypothetically Joe the dealer would ask you to not use the saw and return it... All these Echo 2510 are going to be destroyed once they have been catelogued so I don't think it matters what condition they come back in.

 

 

I dare say a few people will continue to use their saws for a bit regardless...
