Ooooo modded bar and chain? Share! Yeah to be honest the saw in radmore and tucker show room had an echo brand carving bar and chain on it, didn't think to check the one I was given.

I'll get some pics of the mod tomorrow and hopefully a video to show how fast it cuts with it. I rarely use my 360tes as the power to weight to cut speed ratio is so close between the two I prefer to take the lighter saw. On the 10" bar i basically cut everything up to 15"ish then get my 550xp with an 18 up with me. To describe the mod...Basically you'll need to drill 2 new holes in the bar for the chain tensioner on the echo and then because it uses the same holes for the oiler you have 2 options.

Option 1: take a slit disc on a grinder and cut between the rails down to the new holes to allow the oil to get to the chain

Option number 2: take a 5.8mm file and elongate the tensioner holes towards the rails until a little hole appears for the oil to pass through.

Having done both of these I would advise against the first option as it's not easy to get the slit disc perfectly between he rails without damaging them

I've had the Echo 260TES for about a year and half now, which I think was the forerunner to the 2510?. It's got a 10" bar with the skinny chain, and it's been faultless. Surprising amount of power for something that weighs the same as a key chain ornament, and with the thin chain it rips through even oak up to bar length.

2510 is in different league - when you put it side by side to 260/280 it looks even tinier. What's even more impressive - it has a carb heating channel, roller catcher, metal spikes and fixed bar nut yet it weighs half a kilo less than 260. Don't put it side by side to your 260 unless you're selling it :))))

Having both saws, I agree with you, this new saw is a leap forward in many respects, there is nothing to touch it at this moment.:thumbup1:

As promised, here's some pics of the bar mod and a quick cut comparison video. The elongated holes are the new one that I have drilled and filed

Both saws have a brand new chain and are cutting a 70 year old 8" oak gate post that is like iron. As I said about the power to weight to cut speed ratio. The cs260tes is only a second behind the cs360tes
