Did you get that from up my way or Durham as looks fermillior?

 

Looks a good truck nd something I'd like to look at now iv got a bigger yard and more space to store it.

Yes I did, I drove through your neck of the woods when I came up to view it.

Bought it off a chap near Barnard castle.

could you run a 10" pto chipper off the rear of a truck ?

 

 

I reckon so pto off gearbox to hydraulic pump to hydraulic motor. That's how concrete mixers work. Switch in cab to disengage and modern ones have electronic switch at rear. Heck of a motor on mixer drum though. Turning 14-18 ton of concrete at18 rpm or less.

I wouldn't want to buy a replacement.

Chipper high speed motor should be cheaper.

For TTM gross weight per class.

Trailers allowable with appropriate licence which gives a bigger weight.

3.5t 4x4 pick up

7.5t special licence truck but grandad rights still around

18t generally 4 wheel. First proper hgv now lgv

26t 6 wheeler

32t 8wheeler

44t max uk truck and trailer combo on 6 axles. Deduct gross weight per axle less

 

Then you go into abnormal load territory.

 

That the simple of it but with the operators licence. Other weights come in. Sometimes people down rate to achieve this.

 

Uk has lots of rules that don't work with each other well!

 

Thanks mate. Just trying to compare with NZ licence classes and weights. For example I have a class 2 and can drive up to but not more than 18000kg GLW or a gross combination weight of 12000kg. Then you get on to class 4 and 5 which are the heavy rigid and heavy combination. UK sounds confusing to me.

Thought so, came from m b forestry, was tempted by it myself as should be a very useful truck with all those features.

There was a sandwich pto gearbox that took its drive directly behind the flywheel, Carmichael, from memory, (the fire engine people) were the players . Direct pto shaft drive and full engine power

Aren't some of the large chipper trucks run this way?

i would love a hookloader truck, everything in one, change the bin and you have a plant truck or a massive skip, all plant can be loaded from ground level. have a chipper feeding one skip while another is on the road being emptyed. good sized hiab too. only problem is i dont have the work for one yet, at 26t this scania would probily have a fairly good payload too. rear stear would help a little getting into tight spots i guess?

I don't really have the work for a lorry, but it sets you apart, if you have it sign written and people see it, when they have a massive tree to get shot of they'll think "Ill get they guy in with the kick ass lorry who will be efficient and professional instead of the guy with the little tinkers van who will have to do a hundred trips and take days"

With kit like that if it don't work you just sell it

In the uk you can 7.5tonner which pre 97 licence people have automatically

 

Class 2 rigid as big as you like no trailer over 750kg

Class 1 rigid with trailer or arctic

You need cpc to drive for a living but let's not open that can of worms (I have it)
